Patent number: 9944341Abstract: Lateral sides of an engine and a fuel tank are covered with a tank cowling formed by connecting a front cowling and a rear cowling. The front cowling is provided with a flange in which a through hole is formed. The long sides of the through hole are formed in parallel with a cylinder axis of a cylinder section. A gate provided on a lower connecting edge portion of the rear cowling with which the flange overlaps is inserted into the through hole and connected by the clip. The front cowling and the rear cowling are fastened through a bolt on a vehicle body side above and below the connecting section by the clip. With this structure, the force applied to the connecting section is reduced and the connecting section is decreased in size.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 2013Date of Patent: April 17, 2018Assignees: HONDA MOTOR CO., LTD., NIFCO INC.Inventors: Yusuke Inoue, Toshinori Nakano, Kenichi Misaki, Hayato Takei, Akihiro Kawabata, Hajime Naoi

Patent number: 7234559Abstract: An improved fender structure for a motorcycle includes a rear fender for covering a rear wheel, and a support stay for supporting the rear fender on a motorcycle body frame. The support stay extends along an inner surface of the rear fender, from the motorcycle body frame to the rear end of the rear fender. The support stay also supports a tail lamp body that is provided on an exterior surface of the rear fender. The front end of the rear fender includes a contact portion that interacts with the motorcycle body frame. The improved fender structure provides sufficient rigidity for a rear end portion of the rear fenders while achieving a simplified fender shape, reducing molding costs, and improving the external appearance. The improved fender structure also permits easy assembly of the rear fender to the motorcycle.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 2004Date of Patent: June 26, 2007Assignee: Honda Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Toshinori Nakano, Terunati Saiki

Patent number: 6814477Abstract: A license light for a two-wheeled vehicle capable of uniformly illuminating a display plane of a license plate. A lamp main body is supported in a light housing portion of a light cover mounted to a license plate mounting portion of a rear fender. The lamp main body is configured such that a lamp fixed to a base via a socket is covered with a lens. A prism is provided on an upper surface portion of the lens through which light emitted from the lamp is directed for illuminating a display plane of the license plate. The prism is formed by arraying a plurality of prism elements, each of which is directed in a direction parallel to the center line of a vehicular body, in a direction perpendicular to the center line direction. The light emitted from the lamp is uniformly diffused by the prism, so that the license light is uniformly illuminated with the light with a uniform brightness.Type: GrantFiled: August 14, 2002Date of Patent: November 9, 2004Assignee: Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Seiji Yamaguchi, Toru Miyagawa, Toshinori Nakano
