  • Patent number: 9075208
Abstract: A method of assembling a photoelectric conversion module is disclosed. The photoelectric conversion module includes a circuit board on which are mounted a light emitting element, a light receiving element, and an optical element optically connected to the light emitting element and the light receiving element. The light emitting element is positioned on the circuit board based on a positioning mark formed on the circuit board beforehand. The light receiving element and the optical element are positioned based on a position of a light emission point of the light emitting element.

  • Patent number: 8641299
Abstract: An optical connector includes an optical element to be optically connected to an optical fiber; and an optical component. The optical component includes an element fixation part configured to fix the optical element to the optical component; a ferrule attachment part to which a ferrule having the optical fiber connected thereto is to be attached; and a lens to face the optical fiber when the ferrule is attached to the ferrule attachment part. The optical element is positioned relative to the optical fiber in response to attachment of the ferrule to the ferrule attachment part.

  • Patent number: 6529314
Abstract: Method and apparatus using four wave mixing (FWM) for wavelength conversion. An optical waveguide doped with a rare earth element is pumped so that an input optical signal is amplified as the input optical signal travels through the optical waveguide. The optical waveguide is provided with at least one light which, together with the input optical signal, causes four wave mixing (FWM) to occur in the optical waveguide. The FWM causes a converted optical signal to be produced in the optical waveguide and having a wavelength different from the input optical signal. If the input optical signal is modulated by a transmission signal, then the converted optical signal will also be modulated by the transmission signal. The optical waveguide can be, for example, an erbium doped optical fiber operating as an erbium doped fiber amplifier (EDFA). Therefore, an EDFA can be used for both amplification and wavelength conversion.
