  • Patent number: 7836157
Abstract: The file sharing system of the present invention can collectively carry out the settings for a primary NAS and a secondary NAS by sending a plurality of pieces of configuration information to the respective NAS from a setting device. The configuration information setting device sends NAS configuration information, disk configuration information, snapshot configuration information, and remote copy configuration information to the primary NAS and the secondary NAS in a prescribed order. The respective NAS determine whether or not the respective configuration information received from the configuration information setting device can be realized, and when the determination is that this configuration information is realizable, respectively set the configuration information in their own devices.

  • Patent number: 7716438
Abstract: A storage system includes a primary volume and a first controller that stores data in a primary volume and stores content at a prescribed point in time in the form of differential data. The first controller generates generational management information corresponding to the differential data of the prescribed point in time and manages the generational management information. The storage system also includes a secondary volume configured to store backup data and a second controller configured to receive data sent from the first controller, store data to the secondary volume, store the generational management information, receive a request for a certain generation of the generations and provide data of the primary volume corresponding to the requested generation based on the request. The first controller determines to send differential data and the generational management information to the second controller when an amount of differential data reaches a prescribed amount.

  • Publication number: 20070266213
Abstract: The present invention provides a storage system whereby it is also possible to back up the generational management information of a copy source disk array device. The disk array device of the primary site manages back-up data of a main volume, in a plurality of generations, by means of differential snapshots. The differential data of the main volume and the main pool is transferred from the primary site to the secondary site, at a prescribed timing. The secondary site holds the secondary volume, which is a copy of the main volume, and a secondary pool which is a copy of the main pool. The primary site also transfers the generational management information to the secondary site. The generational management information may also comprise a differential bitmap table and a withdrawal destination address management table. The secondary site holds a copy of the generational management information.
