  • Patent number: 6876915
Abstract: To provide a headway control system, in which a congestion following processing can be started by the same operation as in ordinary driving. An arrangement is provided that lets a following control unit 10 to start a control to follow a preceding vehicle on condition that a characteristic value, which is produced in a host vehicle when a driver starts moving the host vehicle, is detected in congested traffic. Acceleration or a vehicle speed may be used as the characteristic value. Another possible arrangement is to start the following control on condition that a variation in an engine of the host vehicle, which is generated in the host vehicle when the driver operates to start moving the host vehicle, is detected in congested traffic.

  • Patent number: 6865471
Abstract: A vehicle cruise control apparatus is provided for controlling a vehicle to run at a set speed desired by a driver. The apparatus stores a state in which the driver inputs a set speed (for example, the number of times the driver inputs the set speeds and a period at which the driver inputs the set speeds), and calculates a target acceleration/deceleration from the input state and a vehicle speed deviation (calculated by subtracting the actual vehicle speed from the set speed).

  • Patent number: 6810319
Abstract: In a vehicle to vehicle distance control device when a headway distance between a controlled vehicle in which the device is provided and a forward vehicle approaches or falls below a predetermined value a control unit controls the vehicle speed of the controlled vehicle so as to keep the headway distance at a predetermined value. When the device becomes unable to detect the presence of a forward vehicle, a constant speed control is provided for the controlled vehicle using either the controlled vehicle speed before the device became unable to detect the forward vehicle or a corrected vehicle speeds until an accelerator is operated. After the accelerator is operated, speed control is performed using a vehicle speed set by a driver of the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20040138802
Abstract: In a vehicular control device, it is necessary to measure or calculate six physical quantities-forward-reverse speed, left-right speed, vertical speed, pitch angle, roll angle, and angle of sideslip-representing vehicular movement and to control the braking force of each wheel and/or the damping coefficient of each suspension shock absorber in order to further shorten braking distance particularly at the time of braking and to prevent spin at that time. In this case, it is necessary to furnish sensors to measure speed and angle directly. In the present invention, four radar sensors are used in order to directly measure the forward-reverse speed and the left-right speed. Also, the vertical speed, the pitch angle, the roll angle, and the angle of sideslip are indirectly measured from the output of the radar sensors.

  • Publication number: 20040104619
Abstract: When a vehicle is suddenly stopped by turning off an ignition key switch on a way of a slope road, a braking force maintaining control is not preformed, and it often occurs that the vehicle moves down along the slope road. To prevent such occurrence, an electro-mechanical braking device for maintaining the braking force is provided so that the vehicle is parked securely. The electro-mechanical braking device includes a parking brake mechanism for maintaining the brake force even when an ignition key switch (power supply switch) of the vehicle is turned off. When the power supply switch (ignition key switch) of the vehicle is turned off with a braking pedal being stroked or a braking operation signal being present, the parking-brake mechanism is activated (the brake force is maintained).

  • Patent number: 6728614
Abstract: A power supply system for a vehicle is provided which is able to supply an electric brake apparatus with necessary power even if an abnormal condition occurs in a battery or a conductor which is connected to the electric brake apparatus. A relay control unit 12 normally brings a relay 11 in a state in which its input terminal is connected to an A terminal 13. This causes a generator 50 or main battery 20 to supply an electric brake apparatus 100 with power via first and second power supply lines 40 and 41 and charges an auxiliary battery 21. If an abnormal condition occurs at main and auxiliary batteries 20 and 21, main and auxiliary power supply lines 30 and 31, first and second power supply lines 40 and 41, the relay control unit 12 brings the relay 21 into a state in which its input terminal is connected to A or B terminal 13 or 14 in response to the abnormal condition.

  • Patent number: 6662090
Abstract: The present invention provides a protective maintenance service system capable of raising an alarm for the replacement of a part when the degradation of an inspection required part reaches the prescribed criteria of replacement. Of the respective inspection required parts stored in the vehicle inspection parts database for the respective vehicles stored in the vehicle database provided by a business unit in advance, the time of part replacement is determined on the basis of the data detected by a part condition sensor for a part having a part condition sensor, and on the basis of the time, which is obtained from the service life compensated with an actual service environment, for a part without a part condition sensor.

  • Patent number: 6637836
Abstract: The solenoid current increases at low temperatures and decreases at high temperatures because the modulus of elasticity of an elastically deformable valve body and the slide resistance of an elastically deformable seal member vary with temperatures. Therefore the solenoid current for opening the valve mechanism from a closed position is required to be changed with low and high temperatures. To supply the solenoid current necessary for opening the valve mechanism without directly measuring the temperature, the solenoid current (the boost starting current leaning value) indicated when the pressure varies with the opening of the valve mechanism is recorded at the time of pressure-increasing, and thereafter when the valve mechanism is opened again after the closing of the valve mechanism, the solenoid current computed on the basis of the pressure-increase starting current learning value thus recorded is supplied.
