  • Patent number: 5369275
Abstract: An apparatus for solid surface analysis capable of carrying out the X-ray fluorescence analysis of the sample surface according to the characteristic X-rays detected by the energy dispersive X-ray detector. The apparatus can also obtain an enlarged image of the sample surface according to the secondary electrons emitted from the excited sample surface detected by the electron detector. The apparatus can also carry out an X-ray diffraction analysis of the sample surface according to diffracted X-rays detected by the diffracted X-ray detector. The apparatus is also capable of attaching or detaching the energy dispersive X-ray detector easily by incorporating a connection room which can be put in a vacuum state independent of the vacuum chamber.

  • Patent number: 5172736
Abstract: An apparatus for manufacturing a spring unit used for mattresses and the like is provided with a first unit for forming coiled springs sequentially out of a single wire and shaping the spring wires by arranging these coiled springs in a lateral row so that side limbs of the coiled springs are adjacent to each other, and a second unit extending across the spring wires and adapted to shape helical wires wound around the side arms of the spring wires so that the helical wires extend across the side limbs. The second unit is provided with a helical wire shaping device which includes a feeding mechanism and another mechanism for forming the straight wire fed from the feeding mechanism into the helical wires and a third mechanism for adjusting a pitch of the helical wires. The second unit is also provided with a device for supplying the helical wires while measuring and controlling the length of the helical wires in such a manner that this length substantially agrees with the width of the spring wires.

  • Patent number: 5045527
Abstract: A method of producing a superconductor including a superconductive oxide. At least one material is pressed for forming a filling material, the at least one material being selected from the group consisting of a starting material powder of the superconductive oxide, a powder of the superconductive oxide and a compact made of the starting material powder and/or the superconductive oxide powder, for forming a filling material. The filling material is charged into a metallic pipe to form a preform. The preform is moved along an axis thereof. During moving, the preform is swaged perpendicularly to the axis thereof to form a composite having a metallic sheath, made of the metallic pipe, and a core sheathed with the metallic sheath. The core of the composite is heated for producing the superconductive oxide.

  • Patent number: 4851764
Abstract: An improved holding device for holding a semiconductor device, particularly a microwave semiconductor device, in a high temperature environmental testing apparatus. The holding device includes a heat block having a heat source therein, and a cooling block for cooling the microstrip matching circuits and coaxial connectors. Both blocks are spatially isolated from each other by an air space. The semiconductor device is set on the top surface of the heat block. As a result, the semiconductor device is effectively heated up to the predetermined testing temperature, while the microstrip matching circuits and the connectors are protected from the temperature rise caused by the heat flow from the heat block. Appropriate grounding arrangements for the semiconductor device are provided by a metal foil for projections on the side walls of the cooling block.

  • Patent number: 4101879
Abstract: A cursor movement control a screen-segmented display apparatus in which the cursor is moved line by line within one divided section. The apparatus comprises a horizontal cursor register for storing the horizontal position of the cursor on display, a vertical cursor register for storing the vertical position of the cursor on display, a starting column register for storing the cursor starting column on one divided section, and a last column register for storing the cursor last column on the section. The contents of the horizontal cursor register are changed by pulses of an external pulse source generated in response to a command for moving the cursor. When the contents of the horizontal cursor register coincide with that of the last column register, the horizontal cursor register is stored with the starting column of the starting column register and at the same time the contents of the vertical cursor register are changed to set the cursor forward by one line.
