  • Patent number: 5832356
Abstract: An automatic document feeder 1 automatically operates a tray depending on the operating conditions of the automatic document feeder. The automatic document feeder 1 has a set surface 7 on which originals to be conveyed are to be set. An original receiving tray 11 for receiving discharged originals is provided in the vicinity of an original discharge port 10. A lower end of the original receiving tray 11 is rotatable, and a tray driving device is connected to the back of the original receiving tray 11. The tray driving device rotates and displaces the original receiving tray 11 around the lower end depending on the operating conditions of the automatic document feeder 1. The original receiving tray 11 is raised almost perpendicularly until the originals are set on the set surface 7 (see FIGS. 4A and 4D). When the originals are conveyed, the original receiving tray 11 is rotated to an obliquely laid state (see FIGS. 4B and 4C) in order to receive the paper sheets discharged from the discharge port 10.

  • Patent number: 5014088
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a memory having stored code data, code data input keys and a preheat changeover key for selectively switching the fixing device to a preheat mode or an operation ready mode, whereby the apparatus is permitted to operate when code data manually entered by the code data input keys are identical with code data previously stored in the memory. The image forming apparatus further includes entered code data release means responsive to operation of the preheat changeover key for switching the fixing device to the preheat mode, release entered code data whereby the apparatus is inhibited from operating. When the preheat key is pressed, the apparatus is switched to the preheat mode and, at the same time, the entered code data is released. Accordingly, the apparatus requires no dedicated button or key for releasing the entered code data, and may put, to practice use, the preheat changeover means which has been conventionally disposed.

  • Patent number: 4685792
Abstract: A copying paper feed device for an electrostatic copier. A copying paper cassette receiving section is adapted to receive a copying paper cassette having a box-like case with a bottom plate the front end of which is biased upwardly by a spring. Within the cassette receiving section, a feed roller is mounted on a rotatable shaft that is adapted to be connected to a drive source. When the copying paper cassette is properly loaded into the cassette receiving section, the front end of the uppermost sheet of copying paper contacts the feed roller. A clutch in its operating condition links the feed roller with the drive source and in its non-operating condition permits the feed roller to freely rotate.

  • Patent number: 4674859
Abstract: A fixing device for fixing a toner image on the surface of a sheet material within an electrostatic copying machine. A movable supporting member rotatably mounts a follower fixing roller for free movement between a press-contacting position, at which the follower fixing roller is maintained in press-contact with a rotatably mounted driven fixer roller, and an isolated position at which at least the greater portion of the follower fixing roller in its longitudinal direction is isolated from, or maintained out of press contact with, the driven fixer roller. A control mechanism moves the supporting members to the press-contacting position in response to energization of a dirve source to which the driven fixer roller is connected and to the isolated position upon deenergization of the drive source.

  • Patent number: 4668076
Abstract: An electrostatic copying apparatus equipped with a first and second supporting frames connected to each other for relative pivotal movement between an open position and a closed position. The rotatable drum and the developing device are mounted on a first unit frame, while the drum cleaning device and the charging corona discharge device are mounted on a second unit frame. The first unit frame and the second unit frame are each mounted on the upper supporting frame with the cleaning device, the charging corona discharge device and the developing device mounted around the drum in sequence in the drum rotating direction. The first unit frame and the second unit frame are detachably mounted on the upper supporting frame and thus can be readily accessed for maintenance.

  • Patent number: 4555173
Abstract: An electrostatic copying apparatus equipped with a first and second supporting frames connected to each other for relative pivotal movement between an open position and a closed position. The first supporting frame has provided therein a rotatably mounted interlocking input gear and a first power transmission system drivingly connected to the interlocking input gear. The second supporting frame has provided therein a drive source, a second power transmission system drivingly connected to the drive source and a rotatably mounted interlocking output gear drivingly connected to the drive source. A pivot member mounted pivotally about the axis of rotation of the interlocking input gear or the interlocking output gear and elastically held at a predetermined angular position by a spring means is provided in the first or second supporting frame. An interlocking linking gear is rotatably mounted on the pivot member.

  • Patent number: 4511241
Abstract: A copying apparatus capable of performing a first preset number of copying operations corresponding to a first original document in a successive copying operation mode, and performing a second preset number of copying operations corresponding to a second original document in an intruded copying operation mode includes preset number display elements for indicating a first and second preset numbers, first counter for counting a number of copying operations, a copy number display element for indicating a value counted by the first counting means, a second counter for counting a discharged copy paper after the completion of a copying operation, and a detector for detecting a jam of the copy paper. The counted value of the first counter is revised so as to be equal to the counted value of the second counter when a copy paper jam occurs.

  • Patent number: 4484734
Abstract: A copy paper feeding device for a copying apparatus includes a plurality of cassettes which are capable of storing copy paper sheets and a feeder which respectively corresponds to each of the cassettes. Each feeder is selectively driven so as to feed the copy paper sheets in the case where the cassettes store copy paper sheets having different sizes and each feeder is driven in a predetermined order so as to feed the copy paper sheets from one cassette until the cassette is empty and then successively feed the copy paper sheets from the remaining cassette in the case where the cassettes store copy paper sheets having the same size. The copy paper feeding device includes a selector for selecting which feeder is to be driven.

  • Patent number: 4457614
Abstract: An electrostatic copying apparatus comprising a rotating endless photosensitive material, an image-forming means for forming an image on the photosensitive material, a conveying means for conveying through a predetermined passage a copying sheet to which the image formed on the photosensitive material is to be transferred, and a cleaning means for cleaning the photosensitive material after image transfer. In the performance of one copying cycle, the image formation is completed before the photosensitive material has rotated through one turn from the starting of image formation, but the photosensitive material is further kept in rotation for cleaning. When a plurality of copying cycles are performed successively, the starting point of image formation in the next copying cycle is selectively set on the basis of the length in the conveying direction of the copying sheet conveyed through the passage during the previous copying cycle.
