  • Patent number: 6673738
Abstract: A photocatalytic active carbon capable of demonstrating a stable deodorizing and adsorbing ability for a prolonged period of time is produced by depositing a coating of a photocatalyst on the surface of the active carbon by means of vapor deposition. Colored photocatalytic active carbon coloring active carbon including the photocatalytic active carbon, which while maintaining the adsorbing action and the decomposing and sterilizing action, comes to be rich in color variations and capable of improving visual design and handling are produced by subjecting the surface of the active carbon to coloring treatment and/or treatment with a compound having coloring or discoloring properties upon hydration.

  • Publication number: 20030100445
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a photocatalytic active carbon capable of demonstrating a stable deodorizing and adsorbing ability for a prolonged period of time by forming and carrying a coating of a photocatalyst on the surface of the active carbon by means of vapor deposition, and a further object is to provide colored photocatalytic active carbon and coloring active carbon including the photocatalytic active carbon, which while maintaining the adsorbing action and the decomposing and sterilizing action, comes to be rich in color variations and capable of improving visual design and handling by subjecting the surface of the active carbon to coloring treatment and/or treatment with a compound having coloring or discoloring properties upon hydration, as well as a deodorant and adsorption product using the same.

  • Patent number: 6407039
Abstract: The present invention provides a biodegradable, weed-preventing sheet comprising biodegradable fibers, and a method of preventing generation and growth of weeds using the sheet. The sheet contains coconut fibers as constituent fibers, exhibits naturally mild and slow biodegradability, and does not adversely affect the environment. Further, when the effect of the sheet becomes insufficient because of biodegradation during use, a new biodegradable, weed-preventing sheet can be laid thereon and used without adversely affecting the environment. Further, the sheet has significantly improved weatherability, durability and mechanical strength. Accordingly, the sheet resists breakage due to its mechanical strength. It has excellent light-shielding properties and suitable water permeability. The sheet is not cleaved by the growing force of vigorously growing plants of the Gramineae family. The sheet is also resistant to breakage by dogs and digging by mice and is impenetrable by weed seeds.
