  • Publication number: 20180183317
Abstract: In a power converter, a first DC-DC converter converts a DC voltage output from a DC power supply into a DC voltage of a different level. A DC-AC converter converts a DC power output from the first DC-DC converter into an AC power and supplies the AC power to an AC load. A variable load unit connected to a current path that branches from a node between the first DC-DC converter and the DC-AC converter. A controller adjusts the variable load unit so that a total of a power consumption in the AC load and a power consumption in the variable load unit is equal to or larger than a predetermined power value.

  • Publication number: 20050201393
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to set a wireless LAN communication parameter with respect to an appliance connected to an in-home network smoothly and easily. Prior to purchasing an appliance, a user registers an in-home network in a center server, and receives a user ID and an e-mail address. Thereafter, when the user purchases an appliance from a vendor by presenting his/her own user ID, a user ID and a device encryption key of the appliance are transmitted from the vendor to the center server. The center server transmits the received information to an e-mail address (home server) of the user ID. The home server searches for a corresponding appliance in an ad hoc mode using the received device encryption key. At this time, when the purchased appliance has already been on the network, communication is established, and a user encryption key (wireless communication parameter) is given from the home sever to the appliance.

  • Publication number: 20050197565
Abstract: An audio communication apparatus for an MRI apparatus performs unidirectional or bidirectional audio communication between a subject in a gantry provided in an examination room and an operator in a control room. An acoustic transducer for transmission and/or reception provided on the subject side is formed by a bone conduction microphone and/or speaker. The bone conduction microphone/speaker transmits a sound to or from the subject by contacting the subject directly or via a protection member, without relying on air as a transmission medium. The apparatus carries out audio transmission without being affected by noise, even in a high-noise environment. The apparatus allows the use of earplugs or sound insulation earmuffs.

  • Publication number: 20050131991
Abstract: When an appliance is connected to the home network, appliance information is transmitted to a display terminal from the appliance. The display terminal transmits the received appliance information to a management server and requests the management server to transmit appliance icon information of the appliance. The management server extracts icon information conforming to the received appliance information from an icon database and sends the icon information to the display terminal. The display terminal generates an appliance icon image from the acquired icon information and superimposes and displays the appliance icon image on a floor plan image of a house. When a user moves the appliance icon to an installation location on a display screen, a room No. of a moving destination and an installation position in the room are detected. The detected positional information is sent to the management server and registered in association with the appliance.

  • Patent number: 6730271
Abstract: A reformer 34 includes three reforming reaction units 80, 82, and 84. These reforming reaction units 80, 82, and 84 respectively include catalyst layers 81, 83, and 85. A supply of crude fuel gas fed to the reformer 34 successively passes through the catalyst layers 81, 83, and 85 in this sequence to be subjected to reforming reactions and converted to a hydrogen-rich gaseous fuel. An air supply unit 90 feeds a supply of the air to each catalyst layer. Oxidation reactions proceed in addition to the reforming reactions in the catalyst layer which receives the supply of the air. Heat produced by the oxidation reactions is utilized for the reforming reactions. Temperature sensors 86, 87, and 88 respectively measure the internal temperatures of the catalyst layers 81, 83, and 85. The amount of the air fed to each catalyst layer is regulated, based on the results of the measurement.

  • Patent number: 6147336
Abstract: A cooking apparatus includes a fan 13 provided at the top wall of a heating chamber 2 with its front face directed downwards. A spiral coil 14 in the form of a flat disc is provided around a rotation shaft 12 above the heating chamber 2. When high-frequency current is supplied to the coil 14, the coil 14 generates an alternating magnetic flux. The magnetic flux penetrates a shielding plate 16 and the fan 13, whereby the fan 13 is inductively heated. The fan 13 draws air from the heating chamber 2 and propels the air back to the heating chamber 2, where the air is heated when it contacts the fan 13. As a result, the temperature in the heating chamber rises, so that an object placed on a turntable 5 is cooked. By such a constitution, it is not necessary to keep additional space open for a heating element because the fan 13 functions as a heating element. Accordingly, it is possible to enlarge the diameter of the fan 13 so that the blowing efficiency is enhanced.

  • Patent number: 4508264
Abstract: A first heat exchanger for heating the wall of an engine intake passage by engine coolant is connected in series with a parallel connection of a second heat exchanger for heating the interior of a passenger compartment and a bypass conduit via a changeover valve which directs flow of coolant alternatively either through the first heat exchanger and the bypass conduit in series and not through the second heat exchanger for summer use, or through the first heat exchanger and the second heat exchanger in series and not through the bypass conduit for winter use. The bypass conduit system has a higher coolant flow resistance than the second heat exchanger, so that the amount of heating applied to the wall of the engine intake passage is automatically reduced when the heating of the passenger compartment is switched off for summer use as compared in winter use where the heating of the passenger compartment is switched on.
