Publication number: 20160231609Abstract: The present invention relates to a display device such as a liquid crystal display device including a first substrate and a second substrate with liquid crystal injected between the first and second substrates. In the display device, the second substrate includes a plurality of columnar spacers, and the first substrate has a protrusion in an area facing the top of the columnar spacer. The plurality of columnar spacers formed on the second substrate are not arranged at even intervals in the longitudinal direction of the scan line, and/or are not aligned on the line but are arranged at random.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 20, 2016Publication date: August 11, 2016Inventors: Kosuke DOI, Toshiyuki KOSHITA

Patent number: 8749734Abstract: Unevenness due to the influence of a mesh when a sealing material for bonding a TFT substrate and a counter substrate together is formed on the counter substrate by screen printing is prevented. Light shielding films are extended in the horizontal direction and arranged in the vertical direction. Red color filters, blue color filters, and green color filters are extended in the vertical direction at predetermined intervals. The blue color filters are extended also in the horizontal direction so as to cover the light shielding films. In a cross section along the red color filter and the green color filter, the level of a portion above the light shielding film is higher compared with that of the other portion by the thicknesses of the blue color filter and the light shielding film. In screen printing, since the high portion serves as a stopper for the mesh, the occurrence of unevenness due to the mesh can be prevented.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 2009Date of Patent: June 10, 2014Assignees: Japan Display Inc., Panasonic Liquid Crystal Display Co., Ltd.Inventors: Toshiyuki Mima, Yasumitsu Fujita, Toshiyuki Koshita

Patent number: 7936433Abstract: Disclosed is a liquid crystal display device that is capable of preventing a conductive paste for connecting a common wiring line of a TFT substrate and a counter electrode of a counter substrate from flowing outward. A sealant is formed outside a display region of a liquid crystal display device. A conductive paste for connecting a common wiring line of a TFT substrate and a counter electrode of a counter substrate is provided at a corner of the liquid crystal display device outside the sealant. An L-shaped stopper is formed on the counter substrate so as to prevent the conductive paste from flowing outward. With the stopper, even if the width of a frame is equal to or less than 1.5 mm, it is possible to prevent the conductive paste from flowing outward.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 2008Date of Patent: May 3, 2011Assignee: Hitachi Displays, Ltd.Inventors: Kengo Okazaki, Hideaki Ishige, Hitoshi Komeno, Toshiyuki Koshita

Publication number: 20100014042Abstract: The present invention provides a liquid crystal display device with a narrow picture frame which reduces a sealing defect by suppressing spreading of an orientation film. In a region inside a sealing material and outside a display region, an uneven surface for suppressing spreading of the orientation film is formed. It is preferable that the uneven surface is formed using an insulation film and, at the same time, an etching stopper layer is formed below the insulation film which forms the uneven surface. It is more preferable that the uneven surface and the stopper layer are simultaneously formed with a layer used for forming pixels in a step for forming such a layer thus preventing the increase of manufacturing steps.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 16, 2009Publication date: January 21, 2010Inventors: Hitoshi Komeno, Toshiyuki Koshita

Patent number: 6882402Abstract: Glass substrates interposed by unhardened thermosetting sealing material is surrounded by two sheets. The space between the sheets is placed in a roughly sealed state and decompressed to produce at least a partial vacuum between the sheets. The sheets serve to press the glass substrates against the sealing material by the pressure difference relative to the atmospheric pressure. One or more heaters spaced apart from the sheets heat the glass substrates and the sealing material, setting the sealing material.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2001Date of Patent: April 19, 2005Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Hiroyasu Matsuura, Hitoshi Azuma, Toshiyuki Koshita, Mitsuaki Shiba, Tsuneo Okada
