  • Publication number: 20240147572
Abstract: In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may be a user equipment (UE) or component thereof. The apparatus may be configured to transmit to a base station a first request to transmit data in a buffer. The apparatus may be further configured to transmit to the base station a second request to transmit the data in the buffer in absence of a grant in response to the first transmit request. The apparatus may be further configured to remain awake for at least a portion of a scheduled discontinuous reception (DRX) sleep state following the transmission of the second request.

  • Publication number: 20240089962
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for a user equipment (UE) to adaptively transition between modes of an adaptive receive diversity (ARD) antenna management configuration. In some cases, the UE may determine to transition from an ARD disallowed mode to an ARD standby mode in response to receiving a burst of downlink grants. The UE may dynamically update one or more criterion for transitioning between the ARD disallowed mode and the ARD standby mode according to a pattern of received downlink grants. For example, the UE may adjust a threshold quantity of downlink grants which constitutes a burst based on a downlink scheduling rate (DSR) of one or more prior ARD standby durations. In some cases, the UE may identify a fallback condition to transition from the ARD standby mode to the ARD disallowed mode.

  • Publication number: 20230328556
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatuses for measurement of cells and determination of a non-standalone (NSA) coverage status using an NSA coverage database. The NSA coverage database may indicate candidate frequencies of New Radio (NR) cells that provide NSA coverage corresponding to a given Long Term Evolution (LTE) serving cell. The NSA coverage database may also indicate whether a system information block 1 (SIB1) has been previously received on a candidate frequency. The user equipment (UE) may perform measurement of candidate frequencies using the NSA coverage database, and may identify cases where a cell not providing NSA coverage has a same candidate frequency as a cell providing NSA coverage using the indication of whether SIB1 has been previously received on a candidate frequency.

  • Patent number: 11785501
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive information indicating a timer value of a timer associated with discarding a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) service data unit (SDU). The UE may determine that a timer modification condition is satisfied. The UE may modify the timer value based at least in part on the determination that the timer modification condition is satisfied. The UE may transmit a communication using the modified timer value. Numerous other aspects are provided.

  • Publication number: 20230319630
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive, at a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) layer, a packet having a PDCP sequence number. The UE may determine whether the received packet, having the PDCP sequence number, satisfies one or more reordering criteria. The UE may discard, before an expiration of a reordering timer, the received packet based at least in part on the determination of whether the received packet satisfies the one or more reordering criteria. Numerous other aspects are provided.

  • Patent number: 11777641
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may identify radio access technology (RAT) state information associated with the UE, the RAT state information including an indication of whether the UE is operating in a steady state or is operating in a transition state. The UE may adapt a codec rate associated with an application of the UE based at least in part on whether the UE is operating in the steady state or is operating in the transition state. Numerous other aspects are provided.

  • Patent number: 11664855
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may identify a first timer associated with a first antenna and a second timer associated with a second antenna. The UE may identify an expiration of the first timer associated with the first antenna. The UE may determine, based at least in part on the identified expiration of the first timer, whether a remaining time of the second timer associated with the second antenna is less than a timer threshold. The UE may select, based at least in part on the determination that the remaining time of the second timer is less than the timer threshold, the second antenna. Numerous other aspects are provided.

  • Patent number: 11652534
Abstract: Aspects are provided which allow a UE to manage a number of antennas in adaptive receive diversity (ARD) based on packet error rate (PER). The UE measures a downlink PER and determines a number of antennas for receiving a downlink transmission based on the measured, downlink PER. The UE measures downlink PER during switching from a fallback state to a steady state in an ARD state machine, and the UE changes a size of a fallback window in the ARD state machine based on the measured, downlink PER. The UE also disables switching from the steady state to the fallback state based on the measured downlink PER. As a result, a balance between UE reception performance and power savings is maximized and improved downlink data throughput is achieved.

  • Publication number: 20220150904
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may establish a radio resource control (RRC) connection with a base station. The UE may receive, from the base station, parameters associated with a set of frequency bands, the parameters indicating a priority of each frequency band of the set of frequency bands. The UE may then measure, based on the priority, one or more frequencies of at least one frequency band of the set of frequency bands. The UE may then transmit, after a time delay and to the base station, a measurement report including measurements of one or more frequency bands of the set of frequency bands.
