  • Patent number: 9078808
Abstract: A container supplies a medicinal formulation that includes a hydrophilic polymer and an active agent capable of bonding to the polymer. The container includes a first compartment for storing the polymer and a second compartment fluidly isolated from the first compartment for storing the active agent. A frangible barrier is shared between the compartments. A fluidic outlet is disposed on the container to dispense the medicinal formulation. Dispensing of the medicinal formulation includes rupturing the frangible barrier, mixing the polymer and active agent together to form the medicinal formulation, and administering the medicinal formulation provided from the fluidic outlet to a patient. The polymer can be PEG, while the active agent can be magnesium.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 26, 2009
Date of Patent: July 14, 2015
    Assignee: Warsaw Orthopedic, Inc.
Inventors: Josee Roy, Toya D. Kimble, Jeffery C. Marx
  • Patent number: 8557271
Abstract: Methods and compositions for treating a tissue within a synovial joint in a patient in need of such treatment are provided. The methods and compositions involve inserting a drug depot through the synovial joint and attaching the drug depot to the inside of the synovial joint capsule so that the drug depot does not substantially interfere with movement of the joint, wherein said depot comprises a polymer and at least one pharmaceutical agent.

  • Publication number: 20090263507
Abstract: The invention provides methods and kits for treatment of pain, inflammation, neuronal or vascular injury and the use of biomarkers for the assessment of the biological activity or disease state. In one embodiment, the kit comprises a biomembrane sealing agent, such as PEG, a bioactive agent, such as a magnesium compound, and an assay for measuring a biomarker. The biomarker is measured pre-, mid- and post-treatment, and results of the measurements are compared to evaluate the treatment, treatment regimen and outcomes.
