  • Patent number: 6908367
Abstract: An apparatus for processing a lens comprising a rotating tool for chamfering used for chamfering a peripheral portion of a spectacle lens, the apparatus comprising: a holding shaft supporting the lens and a lens-holding unit that rotates the holding shaft and displaces the lens towards the finishing unit based on data describing a shape of a lens frame and a rotation angle of the holding shaft; and a means for positioning in an axial direction that displaces the lens in an axial direction of the holding shaft; wherein the rotating tool for chamfering includes a rotating tool having a hemispherical shape, wherein a chamfering angle, or a chamfering amount, is set in accordance with a displacement in the axial direction of the means for positioning in an axial direction and a displacement of the lens-holding unit.

  • Patent number: 6881125
Abstract: An apparatus for processing a lens comprising: a means for supporting a lens that freely displaces towards a tool and comprises a holding shaft supporting the lens so that the lens freely rotates, and a means for detecting an angle that detects a rotation angle of the holding shaft; a means for positioning that moves to contact with and separated from the means for supporting a lens, wherein the means for positioning restricts displacement of the means for supporting the lens towards the tool at a position corresponding to a prescribed lens processing amount determined based on the rotation angle and the data describing a shape of a lens frame; a means for amplifying a relative displacement that amplifies a relative displacement between the means for supporting a lens and a means for positioning; and a means for detection that detects when processing conducted at the rotation angle is complete.

  • Patent number: 6859336
Abstract: An apparatus for processing a lens including a displaceable lens-holding unit comprising a holding shaft that holds the lens, and a means for detecting a rotation angle of the holding shaft; a means for processing a peripheral portion of the lens; an elevating and lowering unit that holds the lens-holding unit, wherein the elevating and lowering unit displaces to a first position in a vertical direction in accordance with a processing amount; wherein, when the lens-holding unit is lowered until the lens contacts the means for processing, the elevating and lowering unit is separate from the lens-holding unit, wherein the lens-holding unit is further lowered to the first position in the vertical direction in accordance with the processing amount, and the lens-holding unit presses the lens to the means for processing under a load determined in accordance with a weight of the lens-holding unit.

  • Patent number: 4945684
Abstract: A method of and an apparatus for processing a peripheral edge of a lens for spectacles are arranged such that a configuration of a lens frame of a spectacle framework is measured, and the peripheral edge of the spectacle lens is ground on the basis of data on the lens-frame configuration obtained by the measurement. In the method and apparatus, a locus of a center of a disc-shaped measuring probe moving along an inner periphery of the lens frame of the spectacle framework is first measured, and an envelope is obtained which is located on the outside of circles each having a center located on said locus and a radius equal to the sum of a radius of a columnar grindstone and a radius of the measuring probe. A rotational axis of an unprocessed lens is moved along said envelope relatively to a rotational axis of the columnar grindstone, to process a peripheral edge of the unprocessed lens.

  • Patent number: 4175002
Abstract: A nuclear fuel pellet is made of a sintered, ceramic nuclear fuel mass and has a cylindrical configuration with a pair of opposite bottomed holes centrally provided one at each end. The bottomed holes are convergent toward their bottoms and each have a U-shaped cross-section. A ratio of the diameter of the opening to the depth of the bottom hole is smaller than unity. The nuclear fuel element is free from defects such as cracks, easy to manufacture and capable of reducing a PCMI (a pellet-clad casing mechanical interaction).
