Abstract: Newspaper retaining closure used in combination with an open-ended newspaper delivery receptacle. The closure is pivoted in the upper portion of the receptacle near its open end; it has a length greater than the vertical distance from the pivot to the bottom of the receptacle and extends inwardly of the receptacle, whereby the closure is lifted as a newspaper is inserted but partly closes the open end of the receptacle after the newspaper is inserted. The frontal area of the closure is insufficient to allow it to be lifted inwardly by normal winds and drafts.
