  • Publication number: 20160039250
Abstract: A tire is provided. The tire includes a body. The body includes a first surface for supporting a plurality of treads. The plurality of treads extends at a pre-defined depth from the first surface to a second surface configured for ground contact. The treads include a third surface extending between the first surface and the second surface. The tire further includes a tread depth indicator molded on the third surface. The tread depth indicator includes a plurality of spaced tread depth markings provided on the third surface. Further, each of the plurality of tread depth markings are spaced apart at a predetermined distance from an adjacent tread depth marking. The plurality of tread depth markings indicates a progressive wear and reduction of the pre-defined depth of the plurality of treads relative to the second surface.

  • Publication number: 20150034222
Abstract: A non-pneumatic tire may include a support structure having an inner circumferential portion configured to be associated with a hub. The tire may further include a tread portion associated with an outer circumferential portion of the support structure. The tire may also include at least one sensor associated with at least one of the support structure and the tread portion and configured to generate signals indicative of at least one characteristic associated with at least one of the support structure and the tread portion. The tire may further include a receiver associated with at least one of the support structure and the tread portion and configured to receive signals from the at least one sensor. The tire may also include a transmitter associated with at least one of the support structure and the tread portion and configured to transmit the signals to a location remote from the tire.

  • Publication number: 20110232362
Abstract: A method and kit for determining the effectiveness of an exhaust filter. The method may involve exposing an indicator to an exhaust stream of a engine downstream of the exhaust filter, visually comparing the indicator against test samples, and assigning a level of exhaust filter effectiveness based on the comparison. The method may also involve restricting the exhaust stream, diverting a test stream of exhaust from the exhaust stream, and exposing the indicator to the test stream. The kit may include a collector having a housing defining a flow passage configured to transmit a test stream of exhaust from a engine and a restrictor having a orifice plate configured to restrict an exhaust stream from which the test stream is diverted.

  • Publication number: 20080104948
Abstract: A method of regenerating a particulate filter is disclosed. The method involves heating the particulate filter to an intermediate temperature, and maintaining the particulate filter at the intermediate temperature until substantial temperature equilibrium is reached. The particulate filter is then heated to a regeneration temperature higher than the intermediate temperature.

  • Patent number: 5865158
Abstract: A method and system for controlling the injection of fuel across a plurality of fuel injectors coupled together along a fuel rail in an internal combustion engine is provided. The method and system involve producing a reference fuel delivery control signal for each of the fuel injectors as a function of the desired fuel mass to be injected and subsequently adjusting the pulse width of each fuel delivery control signal as a function of the fuel temperature proximate each of the respective fuel injectors. The temperature of the fuel proximate each of the respective fuel injectors along the fuel rail is ascertained by measuring the temperature of the fuel near the inlet of the fuel rail using a temperature sensor and subsequently determining the temperature of the fuel proximate each of the fuel injectors based on the measured fuel temperature measured and the location of said fuel injector along said fuel rail.
