Abstract: A computing system accepts user selection and/or performs automatic selection of recipes. In various embodiments, the system produces shopping lists, task lists, pre-cooking-day preparation lists, labels for freezing, and the like so that preparation for several days' worth of meals can be accomplished by a given number of people in one cooking day of a given length, for example. The organization of preparation tasks is, in some embodiments, optimized for efficient use of preparation resources, such as ovens, mixers, and counter space. In certain embodiments, the system automatically converts ingredients between units in which they are typically purchased and units in which they are used in cooking. Various embodiments produce grocery shopping lists, chopping (ingredient preparation) lists, preparation instruction lists, freezing and serving instructions, freezer labels, and reminder messages.
