Abstract: A portable seat for a pet for cooperating with the vehicle seat may include a seatback to cooperate with the back of the vehicle seat. a seat bottom to cooperate with the bottom of the vehicle seat, a pair of opposing seat sides to extend from the seat bottom and the seatback, and a pivotable animal retention tray which may pivot with respect to the opposing seat sides. The portable animal seat may include a top cover section to cover a top surface of the seatback, and the portable animal seat may include a back cover section to cover a front surface of the seatback. The portable animal seat may include a seat cover section in order to cover a top surface of the seat bottom, and the seatback may include a mechanical release. The seatback may include a detachable strap assembly to cooperate with the mechanical release, and the detachable strap assembly may include a expandable and retractable strap which operates in response to the mechanical release.
