  • Patent number: 8571091
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing half duplex user equipment in a packet based radio frequency signaling communication system. User equipment with half duplex receiver and half duplex transmitter on IC providing a transceiver capability performs a cycle of receiving downlink messages for a predetermined number of sub frames, shifting to a transmit mode, transmitting uplink messages for the predetermined number of sub frames, shifting to a receive mode, and repeating the cycle of half duplex sub frames. A discontinuous reception function performs a DRX protocol wherein power is reduced to the transceiver for a period of time. A determination is made at the end of the discontinuous reception period to see if the half duplex cycle is at an uplink sub frame; if so, the end of the discontinuous reception is shifted by the user equipment to a downlink sub frame by adding a delay.

  • Publication number: 20130235726
Abstract: The invention relates to apparatuses, a method and computer programs. It defines a network control based on the transfer of traffic between operation layers (e.g. carriers), in response to the traffic status monitored on at least two operation layers, and subsequent network reconfiguration for diminishing energy consumption by switching off radio nodes, when the traffic status indicates that a traffic reduction fulfils a first predetermined condition (e.g. first threshold defining a lower limit for traffic density), and for increasing capacity, when the traffic status indicates that a traffic increase fulfils a second predetermined condition (e.g. second threshold defining an upper limit for traffic density and/or service capability).

  • Publication number: 20120276899
Abstract: A method for a mobile communications network where a cell is identifiable by a global identifier unique in the mobile communications network and/or a short identifier re-usable in another cell of the mobile communications network. A registry associates information representing a location within the coverage area of the mobile communications network to a defined group of short identifiers. When an access point sends a request for registration to provide services of a cell in a mobile communications network, the request includes information indicating a location of the access point. The registry is used to select a short identifier to be applied in a cell of an access point before registering the access point to provide services of a cell in the mobile communications network.

  • Publication number: 20120263093
Abstract: An apparatus, method, system and computer program product provide control channel coordination in heterogeneous networks. Parameters are provided indicating the availability of resources, wherein a resource is defined as an available radio frequency per time interval, and parameters indicate configuration of a physical channel configured for downlink control, for a physical control channel configured for format indication, and for a physical channel configured for HARQ indication, for use in both of two different communication cells providing radio communication services for terminals located therein. Further, a first resource allocation set and a second resource allocation set are determined, wherein determinations of the first resource allocation set and the second resource allocation set are made to be as mutually disjoint in resource allocation as possible in consideration of the parameters.

  • Publication number: 20120230238
Abstract: There is proposed a mechanism for controlling a transmission of a connection quality information, like CQI, from a UE to a base transceiver station via an uplink connection. Resources of an uplink control channel for the trans-mission of the connection quality information are set for a plurality of UEs. A collision between transmissions of the connection quality information by at least two user equipments of the plurality of UEs on a same resource element is detected or predicted on the basis of input information, and a collision prevention processing is executed when such collision is detected or predicted.

  • Patent number: 8249022
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) receives a first dynamic resource allocation on a first channel (PDCCH), then sends data according to the first resource allocation. During a time at which an ACK/NACK for the sent data is scheduled to occur on a second channel (PHICH), the UE is engaging in an activity that takes priority over the ACK/NACK. The UE then receives a second dynamic resource allocation on the first channel and determines the ACK/NACK for the sent data from the second dynamic resource allocation. The determining can be direct, as in receiving a zero-valued resource allocation; or it may be indirect as in mapping the second dynamic resource allocation to the second channel and receiving the acknowledgement on the second channel after that mapping. Also detailed are similar mirror actions from the Node B's perspective, as well as apparatus, methods, and embodied computer programs.

  • Patent number: 8072929
Abstract: A method of handling intercell interference applies physical layer (L1) scheduling decisions to ensure that L1 hybrid automatic repeat request (H-ARQ) retransmissions will not experience the same interference conditions. The retransmission is scheduled in a sub-frame portion that does not include previously tracked allocations of a plurality of users. Potential intercell interference is also handled by applying a time-shift of the L1 H-ARQ retransmissions, such that the bit positions impacted by inter-cell interference will change and thus assure a more robust performance.

  • Publication number: 20110211503
Abstract: Systems and methods for enabling the dynamic allocation of certain sub frames as downlink or uplink resources in a time division duplexed over the air communications system. A base station or eNB may allocate certain subframes within a repeating radio frame of a TDD configuration as either DL or UL subframes for communicating to user equipment or UE devices to increase efficient use of system resources based on the data to be transmitted. Methods for determining the capabilities of a selected UE and based on the determining step, dynamically allocating certain subframes are disclosed. The methods and systems are compatible with user equipment that does not support the dynamic allocation of subframes.

  • Publication number: 20100208666
Abstract: On a transmitting side, control channels represented by nodes of a tree structure are allocated, each of the control channels having at least one control channel element carrying information for a respective identifier used to detect a control channel of the control channels. The allocation is performed by limiting allocation of highest level control channels of the control channels, the highest level control channels being represented by nodes of the tree structure at a highest level of the tree structure. On a receiving side, a control channel is searched for by decoding the allocated control channels, wherein the searching is limited for the highest level control channels.
