An onboarder device receives updated network credentials for a primary local wireless network, establishes a recovery local wireless network, and sends the updated network credentials to the one or more user devices via the recovery local wireless network. An onboardee device detects a loss of connectivity to a primary local wireless network, connects to a recovery local wireless network, wherein credentials for the recovery local wireless network were received during an onboarding process to the primary local wireless network, receives updated network credentials for the primary local wireless network via the recovery local wireless network, and reconnects to the primary local wireless network using the updated network credentials.
