  • Publication number: 20130314949
Abstract: A power converter includes a full-bridge switching circuit, a resonant circuit, a transformer, an over-voltage protection unit, a PWM control unit, a trigging control unit, and a driving unit. The over-voltage protection unit detects an output voltage of the power converter to produce an output voltage signal. The PWM control unit produces PWM signals. The trigging control unit receives the output voltage signal and the PWM signals to produce a trigging control signal. When an over-voltage output is detected by the over-voltage protection unit, the trigging control unit outputs the low-level trigging control signal to disable the driving unit at the end of duty cycle of the PWM signals.

  • Patent number: 8482249
Abstract: A charging apparatus with alternating current- and direct current-charging functions for a mobile vehicle is disclosed. The charging apparatus receives an external direct current (DC) power source or an external alternating current (AC) power source and converts the DC power source or the AC power source into the required voltage and current for charging a rechargeable battery installed in the charging apparatus. The charging apparatus mainly includes a DC/DC conversion unit, an integrated DC/DC conversion and PFC unit, and a control unit. The control unit detects that the external power source is the DC power source or the AC power source. Furthermore, the charging apparatus controls the DC/DC conversion unit and the integrated DC/DC conversion and PFC unit according the type of the detected external power source, thus providing the required DC voltage level and charging current to the rechargeable battery.

  • Publication number: 20120229086
Abstract: A charging apparatus of a mobile vehicle is provided to receive and convert an external alternating current (AC) power source into a direct current (DC) power source for charging a rechargeable battery of the mobile vehicle. The charging apparatus of the mobile vehicle includes a charging apparatus and the rechargeable battery. The charging apparatus is installed in the mobile vehicle. The charging apparatus includes an electromagnetic interference (EMI) filter and a power factor corrector (PFC). The EMI filter is provided to eliminate the noise in the AC power source to prevent the conductive electromagnetic interference. The PFC is provided to convert the filtered AC power source into the DC power source and improve the power factor of the converted DC power source. Therefore, the charging apparatus of the mobile vehicle provides power conversion and directly charges the rechargeable battery, thus reducing conversion losses and increasing charging efficiency.

  • Publication number: 20120025763
Abstract: A charging system of a mobile vehicle and a method for operating the same are provided to receive and convert an external AC source into a DC source for charging the mobile vehicle. First, a high DC voltage is outputted through a charging apparatus. Afterward, the high DC voltage is received and converted by a DC power conversion apparatus in the mobile vehicle, thus the required voltage level of the high DC voltage is provided for a rechargeable battery. Finally, the DC power conversion apparatus is controlled through a vehicle controller to provide the desired charging current for the rechargeable battery. The DC power conversion apparatus is installed in the mobile vehicle so that the rechargeable battery is protected by the DC power conversion apparatus. In addition, an adaptive charging manner is provided according to operating conditions of the rechargeable battery, thus increasing charging reliability, security, and speed.
