Abstract: A street light that uses both a low-pressure sodium vapor bulb and a metal halide bulb is disclosed. The combination of these two light bulbs creates an efficient light source that is highly effective in bad weather conditions as well as able to provide good color differentiation. Further, the street light can be battery powered, where the batteries are recharged by solar cells, wind turbines, or both. A self-sufficient cost-effective street light is produced that uses renewable energy to provide light that has high penetration and wide color spectrum characteristics.
