  • Patent number: 5601358
Abstract: A power pack having compartments for holding at least one battery and electrical components for controlling at least one lighting element includes a snap-on cover having any of a plurality of configurations for enabling the power pack to be assembled to a wide variety of surfaces and, optionally, electrical terminal structures for mounting a variety of different lighting elements, including both electro-luminescent strips and light emitting diode fixtures, directly to the power pack.

  • Patent number: 5599088
Abstract: A flasher module for footwear includes a main housing containing all necessary circuitry for supplying power to at least one LED and for causing the LED to flash in response to movement of the shoe, except that at least one upper contact is affixed to a press fit cover such that when the press fit cover is secured to the main housing, at least two batteries are sandwiched between the upper contact and a lower contact in the main housing to complete a power supply circuit. The at least two batteries are connected in series, and two additional batteries may also be included in various series and parallel combinations depending on the desired voltage and current. An improved motion sensitive switch includes a terminal member from which a coil spring extends on one side to engage an outer conductive member upon motion of the shoe, the coil spring being soldered to the terminal member on the opposite side from the free end of the spring.

  • Patent number: 5572817
Abstract: A multi-color illuminated panel is made up of a decorative frontsheet having windows cut therein and which may include decorative patterns printed thereon, a transparent supporting sheet, which may also have decorative printing thereon, and a pre-wired backsheet in the form of a printed circuit board having multiple individual electro-luminescent light panel segments of different colors affixed thereto and electrically connected to traces on the circuit board, the electro-luminescent light segments of different colors emitting light which shines through corresponding windows and thereby provides a spectacular multi-color lighting effect.

  • Patent number: 5570946
Abstract: A protective headwear such as a helmet or hard hat includes a hard outer layer to which is attached a thin lighting element such as an electro-luminescent or photoluminescent element. The super-thin lighting element may be positioned inside the outer layer so as to be protected thereby, the outer layer being provided with an opening or window through which the lighting element is visible.

  • Patent number: 5485358
Abstract: A lighting arrangement for head-wear is made up of several light emitting diodes mounted on a flexible plate. The flexible plate is one of the straps of the length-adjustable belt conventional provided at the rear of a cap. The strap on which the LED is mounted may be stitched to the rear of the cap in conventional fashion and used for length adjustment purposes or may alternatively by stitched to the side of the cap to be used solely as a mounting for the lighting arrangement.

  • Patent number: 5469342
Abstract: A light-strip apparatus including a flexible lower strip, a transparent flexible upper strip detachably engaged to the lower strip thus together forming a sheath, an elongated flexible light-emitting device being received in the sheath for emitting light, and a power box attached to a substantially central portion of the flexible light-emitting device for providing AC power to enable the flexible light-emitting device to flash. The flexible light-emitting device has a plurality of spots sequentially connected by interconnected lines and the spots and the lines will flash if the light-emitting device is electrified by the power box.

  • Patent number: 5262756
Abstract: A solar powered warning light apparatus including a solar module that charges a single rechargeable Ni-Cad battery is operable for intermittently flashing a xenon flash tube. A recharging network of the apparatus allows the solar cell module to recharge the battery when sunlight is impinging upon the solar module for providing virtually maintenance-free and long term operation of the warning light by the battery during the dark or twilight hours when warning lights are needed to warn vehicle drivers of road hazards or environment hazards.
