  • Publication number: 20070052853
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for instant replay of digital broadcast data are disclosed. The method provides a function to multiplex the code stream of the digital broadcast data is provided by using software. During playing a digital broadcast program, the digital broadcast data within the period of time from present to former several seconds are recorded simultaneously. Hence, when the users see a marvelous frame or a remarkable message, they may ask for rebroadcasting the former frames by sending a replay order. Moreover, the instant replay apparatus can be applied in the display equipments such as the digital televisions or the setup boxes. Therefore, without using the hard disk or the video recorder, the method can achieve the purpose of instantly replaying the extraordinary frames.

  • Publication number: 20060112214
Abstract: An electronic device applying downgraded DRAM comprises a processing unit, a downgraded DRAM and a non-volatile memory. The processing unit is used for executing operations of the electronic device. The downgraded DRAM is provided for the processing unit to store program code and data temporarily, and the downgraded DRAM includes usable and unusable memory blocks. The non-volatile memory is used for storing a usable DRAM map that records the usable memory blocks of the downgraded DRAM, and the processing unit accesses the usable memory blocks of the downgraded DRAM according to the usable DRAM map. A method for applying downgraded DRAM to the electronic device is also disclosed, which can simplify the preprocessing of the downgraded DRAM and assembly procedure of the electronic device and thus reduces production cost.

  • Publication number: 20030052807
Abstract: An apparatus for canceling noise in a PC environment includes a receiver positioned inside the computer case that inputs noise inside the computer case, a processor coupled to the receiver and having a waveform generation device that generates a cancellation waveform that is inverse to the waveform of the input noise, and a speaker coupled to the processor for broadcasting the cancellation waveform. A method for canceling noise in a PC environment includes inputting a noise, determining a cyclical waveform that is representative of the noise, generating a cancellation waveform that is the reverse of the cyclical waveform, and mixing the sound from the cancellation waveform with the noise.

  • Publication number: 20020116189
Abstract: A method for identifying authorized users and the apparatus of the same, which identifies users by comparison with specific spectrograms of authorized users. The method comprises the steps of: (i) detecting the end point of a verbalized sample from the user requesting access; (ii) retrieving speech features from a spectrogram of the speech; (iii) determining whether training is necessary, and if so, taking the speech features as a reference template, setting a threshold and going back to (i), otherwise going on to next step; (iv) matching patterns of the speech features and the reference template; (v) computing a distance between the speech features and the reference template according to the matching result of (iv) to obtain a distance scoring; (vi) comparing the distance scoring with the threshold; (vii) determining whether the user is authorized according to the compared result of (vi).

  • Publication number: 20020040447
Abstract: An automatic stable frequency detector and a method of finding a stable operating frequency in a computer system. The detector includes a central processing unit, a monitoring timer and a clock generator for providing a clocking frequency to the computer system. The method is capable of saving much user labor for calibrating the operating frequency of the motherboard of a personal or notebook computer. This is because personal or notebook manufacturers can set up the computer system to work at the highest stable operating frequency of whatever computer system through software or hardware.

  • Patent number: 6292012
Abstract: A device installed in a computer system for protecting the program or data inside a programmable non-volatile memory. The device includes a first and a second combinatorial logic circuit, a delay circuit, a low-enable latching device with reset capability, an AND gate and a memory cell array. As soon as all the necessary system startup operations dictated by the BIOS program inside the memory cell array are executed and a specified memory read/write program that matches the preset internal parameters of a logic circuit is activated so that output from the AND gate is a logic ‘false’, the memory cell array is permanently locked in a non-programmable state, unless the power is turned off and then restarted again. There is no way for any software program to change the programming state of the memory cell array back to a re-programming state again. Hence, the device is an effective means of protecting the programs inside the memory from illegal tampering.

  • Patent number: 5278793
Abstract: A memory defect masking device is to be used in combination with defective memory devices. The memory masking device first stores the addresses of defective memory spaces of the defective memory devices therein and then compares the memory address present at the address lines of the defective memory devices with the addresses stored therein. The defective memory devices are disabled when the memory address present at the address lines tallies with one of the addresses stored in the memory defect masking device. The memory defect masking device is also connected to the data lines of the defective memory devices to permit the former to act as a replacement for the defective space of the defective memory devices. The defective memory devices is therefore operated as if it has no defective memory space.
