  • Patent number: 5090374
Abstract: In an auxiliary starter apparatus for four-cylinder diesel engine, each cylinder of which has a 12-volt glow plug adapted to be operated by a voltage of 12 volt, each of the four glow plugs has an electrical resistor. There is provided a first state in which each of the two electrical resistors connected in series is connected in parallel to form an electrically conductive path. A second state is provided in which the four electrical resistors are each connected in series to form an electrically conductive path. Electromagnetic relays are placed to alternatively select the first and second state. A 24-volt battery cell is provided, a voltage of which is impressed across the electrically conductive path of the first state by the first and second electromagnetic relay when starting the diesel engine, while the voltage of the 24-volt battery cell impressed across the electrically conductive path of the second state by the first and second electromagnetic relay once the diesel engine has started.

  • Patent number: 4939156
Abstract: As new compounds are now provided 7,7,8,8,-tetramethyl-cis-diaza-bicyclo{4.2.0}octane-3,5,-dione derivatives which have an activity to induce the differentiation of tumor cells and are useful as antitumor agent, and which also have an antiviral activity against various viruses and are useful as antiviral agent. These new derivatives may be produced by a photo-addition reaction of a uracil compound with 2,3-dimethyl-2-butene.

  • Patent number: 4893168
Abstract: Herein disclosed is a semiconductor integrated circuit device which includes a unit cell for forming such an input/output circuit portion as is made capable of selecting any of a plurality of different input and output functions by changing a wiring pattern. The semiconductor integrated circuit is constructed such that there are formed in a manner to correspond to the unit cell a plurality of bonding pad regions which can be separated from one another so that any of the plural input and output functions can be arbitrarily selected through those bonding pad regions.

  • Patent number: 4661686
Abstract: A dual line ceramic glow plug uses a ceramic heater as an incandescent body which protrudes from the bottom of a metal fitting and which is made of an incandescent wire of a refractory metal embedded in a sintered ceramic powder. The bare ends of the incandescent wire terminate in a pair of metal terminal fittings secured to the end of the ceramic heater within the metal fitting. Electrical leads protruding from the terminal fittings are welded to a pair of terminal electrodes projecting outwardly from the top of the metal fitting. The ceramic heater is held in position by a metal sheath that is slipped over and bonded to the middle portion of said heater. The middle portion of the ceramic heater is brazed to the inner surface of the metal sheath in electrically insulated relation thereto with an intervening glass layer formed on the outer surface of the ceramic heater.

  • Patent number: 4636614
Abstract: A rapid heating self-control type glow plug used for starting a Diesel engine, particularly, such a glow plug which is also used for regulating the cylinder or auxiliary combustion chamber temperature following starting and during normal operations of the engine. A resistor wire is connected in series with a heating wire embedded in a ceramic body. The heating wire is formed of a tungsten alloy having a temperature resistance coefficient at 1000.degree. C. no greater than 4 times that at room temperature, while the resistor has a positive temperature resistance coefficient at 1000.degree. C. no less than 5 times that at room temperature. Preferably, the tungsten alloy consists of tungsten and at least one of rhenium, cobalt, thorium, molybdenum and zirconium, with rhenium in an amount of 2 to 50 wt % being preferred, and rhenium in an amount of 10 to 30 wt % being the most preferable. The resistor is preferably a wire made of at least one of nickel, tungsten, molybdenum and iron.
