    Abstract: An automotive waterproof switch has a flange member integral to the switch. A screw is used to attach the switch to a car body. A protective cap is attached to the circumference of the flange member to cover the switch and the screw. There is an opening in the cap above the screw to access the screw for assembly. The edges of the opening comprise thin portions that are of a smaller diameter than the screw and retain the screw prior to final assembly.

    Abstract: The body and the cover of the conventional automotive lamp assembly used to be made of hard synthetic resin such as polypropylene or polycarbonate having a low Izod impact value. As a result, the strong impact by a human body on the body or the cover of the lamp assembly in a collision accident can create a problem that the lamp assembly is broken into smithereens and recycling thereof was impossible. The automotive lamp assembly installed in the room of a passenger car is provided with means including a body composed of a lamp and a switch to be directly attached to the vehicle body, the body being formed of polypropylene having an Izod impact value of 40 to 60 kJ/m.sup.2 ; and a transparent or translucent cover to shield the body, said cover being formed of polypropylene or polycarbonate having an Izod impact value of 40 to 60 kJ/m.sup.2.

    Abstract: A push button support structure for a push switch is provided with a housing, a push switch secured to the housing which has an actuator thereon, and a push button reciprocally moveable between on and off positions so as to responsively engage the actuator and thereby perform on and off switching actions, respectively. A pair of first elongate engagement posts is provided on one of the push button or housing which defines a circular cross-sectional geometry. Each elongate engagement post is positioned on a respective side of the push switch so that the push switch is disposed between the pair of first elongate engagement posts. A pair of second elongate engagement posts, in alignment with the pair of first elongate engagement posts, is also provided on the other of the push button or housing and defines a square cross-sectional geometry.

    Abstract: Switch mounting structures have a generally rectangular body switch with oppositely extending planar base extensions, and a housing which defines a pair of spaced-apart slotted mounting entries to receive respective terminal edge portions of a respective one of the base extensions. The terminal edge portions of the base extensions include diagonally opposed pairs of coved portions and recesses, while the housing includes a pair of diagonally opposed proturbences. These proturbences are engaged with said diagonally opposed pair of recesses when said base extensions are rotated relative to said housing from an initial insertion position, where the base extensions are in a slanted orientation relative to the mounting entries, and a mounted position, where the base extensions are in a non-slanted orientation relative to the mounting entries. In such a manner, the switch body and the housing are brought lockable engagement with one another.

A clicking thruster provided with resiliency by a resilient member such as a spring produces a clicking sensation during switching by engaging with clicking thruster recesses. A through hole is provided in the slider, and the moving contact is positioned within the through hole in opposition to the stationary contacts. The clicking thruster is positioned in opposition to the clicking thruster recesses, and the resilient member is fit in between the moving contact and the clicking thruster.

The contact plate portion is inserted into the insertion hole of the housing and extending therewithin over a range of slidable movement of the operation lever so as to be in contact with the resilient contact plate. In such a manner, the clamp portion is connectable to a bus bar for electrical connection of the switch to a circuit.

    Abstract: A connector for a wedge-base electrical component (e.g., a wedge-base bulb) includes an electrically insulative base and an electrically insulative holder attached to the base and defining an interior socket space therewithin for receiving the wedge-base of the electrical component. A pair of U-shaped electrically conductive clamp elements is positioned in the interior socket space of the holder. The U-shaped clamps resiliently hold the wedge-base of the electrical component and establish an electrical connection therebetween. Each of the clamp elements includes a connection piece for connection to a bus bar so as to establish an electrical circuit connection with the electrical component resiliently held by the clamp elements. The insulative holder includes a pair of opposed resilient support tabs extending upwardly from the holder so as to engage the electrical component at a location above the wedge-base of the electrical component.

A pair of fixed contact piece supporting walls each extend from a respective one of the opposed substrate walls. First and second conductive fixed contact pieces are positioned on respective inner surfaces of one and another of the fixed contact piece supporting walls such that the movable contact piece is positioned therebetween and is capable of contact therewith when the lever is pivoted between the first and second positions.

    Abstract: A connector component for a wedge-base lamp includes an electrically insulative base having an upright inverted T-shaped electrically insulated frame member which defines a central interior rectangular space for receiving a wedge-base of a lamp. A pair of opposed bulb guides integral with the frame member are disposed substantially midway of the interior rectangular space. The opposed bulb guides each define a respective arcuate concavity for receiving a portion of the wedge-base of the lamp therein so as to provide a holder for the wedge-base lamp. The bulb guides further define a pair of lateral socket spaces within the interior rectangular space of the frame member and each have a projection member extending into the socket space. A pair of U-shaped electrically conductive clamp elements are positioned in a respective one of the lateral socket spaces.

The pair of connectors are positioned parallel to one another within the central interior rectangular space such that each of the clamp elements forwardly extends to receive the lamp base of a lamp when inserted thereinto. An electrically conductive reflecting plate forwardly extends from an upper surface of the bulb holder so as to be in covering relationship to the lamp when the lamp base thereof is resiliently held by the clamp elements of the connectors.

    Abstract: A consolidated locking apparatus of a connector frame includes a pair of square tray-shaped insulating frames formed from plastic. A protruding wall is provided having slits and locking flanges on and protruding from the front of each respective insulating frame. A plurality of narrow conducting strips are mounted inside of each of the insulating frames. Bent pieces unitary with and formed substantially parallel to the narrow conducting strips project to the outside of the insulating frames through these slits. An insulative, closed bottom cylinder is removably attached to the insulating frames at their protruding walls by apertures through which the bent pieces pass via locking resilient tabs of the closed bottom cylinder on the locking flanges. Base portions of the bent pieces are positioned and reinforced with peripheral surfaces of the apertures of the closed bottom cylinder.
