  • Patent number: 6131432
Abstract: A process for manufacturing a metal foil by effecting rolling with a high efficiency without making any defectively shaped product. A metal foil having a thickness of 0.2 mm or less is manufactured after a plurality of passes of cold rolling by using soft work rolls from the first pass to the pass preceding the kissing pass during which the kissing of rolls is likely to occur, using hard work rolls for carrying out the kissing pass with a reduction in thickness of over 30%, and using soft work rolls for carrying out the last, or the last two passes with a reduction of 20% or less. Judgment is made again as to the likelihood of any roll kissing when hard rolls are used, and the pressure to be applied for the kissing pass is controlled in accordance with the result of such judgment.

  • Patent number: 4961976
Abstract: A method of increasing the pressure-resistant strength and impart strength of a glass container, which comprises treating the surface of the glass container with a silane coupling agent, applying a coating material comprising a reactive compound having at least two (meth)acryloyl groups in the molecule to the treated glass container, and subjecting it to irradiation of an activated energy ray to cure the coating material applied; and a method of increasing the pressure-resistant strength and impact strength of a glass container, which comprises applying a coating material comprising a silane coupling agent and a reactive compound having at least two (meth)acryloyl groups in the molecule to the surface of the glass article, and then subjecting the coated glass container to irradiation of an activated energy ray to cure the coating.

  • Patent number: 4595544
Abstract: A method of manufacturing containers covered tightly with a protective sheet with a porous resin film layer or rubber film layer in-between.By the method of this invention, a resin solution or rubber solution is foamed mechanically in advance and the foamed layer made by the foamed resin film or the foamed rubber film then is covered with a heat shrinkable sheet which is heat shrunk tightly to the containers. The foamed layer does not shrink during the heating. Accordingly, the surface of the heat shrinkable sheet is free from waviness due to gas foaming of the covered layer during heat shrinking which has been the case with conventional methods. The method, therefore, does not affect the appearance or printing performance of the surface of the heat shrinkable sheet.

  • Patent number: 3951925
Abstract: Polymer or copolymer of vinyl chloride having superior properties can be produced by suspension-polymerizing vinyl chloride or a mixture thereof with another vinyl monomer, at first, in the presence of an oil-soluble radical initiator, and thereafter, when the percentage of polymerization of the resulting polymer has reached about 15% to about 80%, subjecting the polymer to a further polymerization in the presence of a water-soluble radical initiator. The product thus obtained has both the merits resulting from suspension polymerization and emulsion one. It has an extremely high absorptivity of plasticizer, easy processability, and film made therefrom has substantially no fish eye.
