  • Patent number: 7123375
Abstract: A printer having a physical connection port and a wireless communication module for sending and receiving data by wireless communication, a received data processor controlling the received data, and a printing mechanism for running a printing process is provided, as is a POS system having such a printer, a wireless communication control method, and a computer readable medium carrying a program for implementing the method. A virtual port emulator on a host system receives display output requests from a POS application running on the host, finds data for a wired connection port on a printer of a stand-alone system linked to the virtual port for the display data, and sends the display data with the connection port data through a physical port on the host to a printer of the host system. Data received by the host printer is then allocated by a first received data processor and sent by wireless communication through a wireless communication device of the host to the stand-alone system printer.

  • Publication number: 20050211773
Abstract: A POS system and method having a POS terminal, at least one input device for providing input data such as product sale information to said POS terminal, a POS server to enable the POS terminal to complete a POS transaction based upon such product sale information, a display device and a printing device further including an input/output control apparatus 12 and at least one function adding server 50 to enable the POS system to perform at least one new functional application without requiring any change in the POS system terminal or server. At least one of connection ports 21b to 23b of an input/output control apparatus 12 is connected to at least one the connection ports 21a to 23a of an existing POS terminal 30 having at least a POS printer 34, a input device 32, or a display 33 connected thereto. The input devices 32 to 34 conventionally connected to the ports 21a to 23a of the POS terminal 30 are connected to the corresponding ports of the I/O control apparatus 12.

  • Patent number: 6501558
Abstract: An interface module waits for the arrival of data to be received from a host computer and decides whether the received data is journal print data. If the received data is journal print data, the interface module causes flash memory to store the data and if the received data is print data (e.g., receipt print data) other than the journal print data, the interface module transmits the fact to a printer. The interface module is fitted in the interface board slot of the printer.

  • Patent number: 5778254
Abstract: A recording device having a plurality of recording mediums mounted thereon is disclosed. For example, in the recording device, a 5.25-inch floppy disk drive 1 and a 3.5-inch floppy disk drive 2 are attached to a front bezel 3, drive 2 being pre- connected to drive 1 inside the recording device by a flat cable so that the connection of the device with a host is achieved by connecting drive 1 side to the host. Thus, it is not necessary to connect a cable to each recording medium. Further, it becomes possible to add functions to drive 1 for setting signals for selecting the respective drives and to use drive 1 as the output buffer of the other drive.
