  • Patent number: 5255077
Abstract: Method and apparatus for effecting white balance control in which an image pickup apparatus converts image light into an electrical signal using an image pickup element, and outputs a plurality of color signals corresponding to received light. A still image recorder records the color signals as a still image, and a controller effects a first exposure with the image pickup element before still image recording. Then, the controller forms a white balance control signal by using the first image pickup signals output from the image pickup element in the first exposure. Thereafter, the controller conducts a second exposure to obtained second image pickup signals, and effects white balance control of the second image pickup signals based on the white balance control signals.

  • Patent number: 5168364
Abstract: An image sensing apparatus for picking up images having a solid-state image sensor provided with an antiblooming gate. The antiblooming gate removes unnecessary electric charge at a given frequency rate during a period of time at which an exposure shutter reaches a desired aperture diameter. The antiblooming gate removes unnecessary charge at a lower frequency rate before and/or after the exposure shutter reaches the desired aperture diameter. Thus it is possible to provide a highly efficient antiblooming system that minimizes the duration in which the antiblooming gate operates at the higher frequency rate, thereby minimizing undesirable conditions associated with operating the gate at the higher frequency rate.

  • Patent number: 4754323
Abstract: A color image pickup device suppresses false color signals in order to provide true color reproduction. That is, the device incrementally or continuously reduces false color signals. More particularly, this device includes a color separation filter through which an optical image passes to an image pickup device such as a CCD sensor or the like. A suppression circuit that includes a low pass filter and a high brightness detector detects when the brightness of the optical image exceeds a predetermined level. A color signal forming circuit forms a plurality of color signals from the output of the image pickup device and this plurality of color signals are output by a sequencing circuit in a predetermined cycle. The output level of the sequencing circuit is adjusted in response to the output of the detector by a control circuit, and this output is modulated by a modulator.
