  • Patent number: 5335716
Abstract: A method for starting continuous slab casting capable of facilitating withdrawal of a dummy bar to start smooth continuous slab casting is provided at the start of casting of continuous slab casting, where lateral side plates 2 of the mold 10 are pinched by longitudinal side plates 1 of the mold and are adjustable in the slab width direction; where a dummy bar 4 is set at a desired level at the center in a width-variable, continuous casting mold; and clearances each between lateral side plates 2 and the dummy bar 4 are adjusted to 1-3 mm, while maintaining the lateral side plates 2 vertically, then sealing materials 5 are filled into the clearances; then molten steel is poured into the mold; and then the top ends of the lateral side plates 2 are made more apart outwardly, thereby giving a downwardly tapered profile to the lateral side plates 2, when no more poured molten steel is passed into the clearance between the formed solidified shell 6a and the plates 1 and 2, while withdrawing the dummy bar 4 downward

  • Patent number: 5066747
Abstract: Vinyl ethers having a carboxyl group in a form of salt are stable and is usable as materials for fluorine-containing copolymers. The vinyl ethers can provide stable monomer compositions by mixing with vinyl ethers having a free carboxyl group when the former vinyl ethers are present in an amount of not less than 1% by mole of the latter vinyl ethers. The fluorine-containing copolymer prepared by copolymerizing fluoroolefins with the vinyl ethers are useful as aqueous coatings particularly electro dip coatings.

  • Patent number: 4842940
Abstract: An electrodeposition coating composition comprising a fluorine-containing copolymer having an anionic functional group, a curing agent and water, said copolymer comprising:(a) 20 to 80% by mole of the structural unit of the formula (1):--CFX--CF.sub.2 -- (1)(b) 5 to 60% by mole of the structural unit of the formula (2): ##STR1## (c) 0 to 40% by mole of the structural unit of the formula (3): ##STR2## (d) 0 to 40% by mole of the structural unit of the formula (4): ##STR3## the total amount of the structural units (a), (b), (c) and (d) being 100% by mole. The composition of the invention can be baked to substrates at a low temperature in comparison with compositions containing conventional fluorine-containing copolymers, and the films obtained by electrodepositing the composition are excellent in gloss, weatherability, adhesion to the substrates, alkali resistance and smoothness.
