  • Publication number: 20040150741
Abstract: An image-pickup apparatus includes a shape-variable mirror having a deformable reflection plane. When an image-pickup unit is picking up images, a control unit controls a drive unit so as to continuously feed a drive signal in order to maintain a displacement state of the shape-variable mirror. Therefore, during photographing, by maintaining the displacement state of the shape-variable mirror, required images can be obtained while at non-required time, electric power consumption can be reduced by stopping the drive of the shape-variable mirror. Also, prior to picking up images, in order to avoid the extreme defocus of the focal position of an optical system, exposure is controlled by applying a predetermined drive signal to-the shape-variable mirror, so that an object can be auto-focused in an appropriate exposure state, enabling a focal point to be correctly detected not depending on the brightness of the object.

  • Patent number: 5708851
Abstract: In a system for managing medical information by using a hybrid card having an optical stripe and an IC module, in a hospital there is provided a main data processing apparatus which can write and read data on and from the optical stripe of the hybrid card and can write and read data from the IC module, and in a patient's home there is arranged a sub data processing apparatus for reading and writing the data on and from the IC module. The patient measures blood pressure and heart rate at home, and the measured data is recorded on the IC module. In the hospital the blood pressure and heart rate stored in the IC module are read out and are used for diagnosis. As the sub data processing apparatus installed in the patient's home could not write data on the optical stripe, the apparatus can be made small in size, simple in construction and cheap in cost. Further, the important data stored in the optical stripe could not be erased or altered by the patient.

  • Patent number: 5491679
Abstract: An apparatus for recording and/or reproducing information on and/or from a record medium such as an optical card includes a card insertion opening, a shutter member arranged rotatably for selectively closing the card insertion opening, a shuttle for supporting the optical card and being movable in a first direction with respect to an optical head, a first driving motor for moving the shuttle between a loading position and a read/write position, and a second driving motor for moving the optical card onto and from the shuttle. The shutter member is moved in conjunction with the movement of the shuttle by providing a link member having a first engaging portion which is engaged with the shuttle member when the shuttle is in the loading position and a second engaging portion which is engaged with the shutter member to move the shutter member such that the card insertion opening is opened to allow the insertion and discharge of the optical card into and from the shuttle.

  • Patent number: 5375112
Abstract: In a method of writing and reading information on and from an optical card, to record new data immediately after an end of a previously recorded area without providing a gap therebetween, a timing of a write command signal is adjusted in accordance with a distance between writing and reading light spots on the optical card. The distance between the writing and reading light spots is measured by utilizing these light spots. A pit is formed on the optical card by the writing light spot, and the thus formed pit is detected by the reading light spot. Then, the distance may be measured by deriving a product of a constant moving speed of the optical card and a time period from an instant at which the pit is recorded to an instant at which the relevant pit is detected. An undesired bit jitter can be removed, while various optical systems of an optical head can be assembled easily; thus, a manufacturing cost of the optical head can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 5347116
Abstract: An apparatus for recording and/or reproducing information on and/or from an optical card including a shuttle for carrying the optical card, an optical head for projecting a writing and/or reading light beam onto the optical card, a linear motor for moving the shuttle in a track direction at a constant speed during the recording and/or reproduction, a linear encoder for detecting a movement of the shuttle in the track direction, and an optical card driving mechanism for inserting the optical card into the shuttle when the shuttle is indexed at a predetermined card loading position. In order to insert the optical card into the shuttle in a positive and correct manner, the movement of the shuttle from the card loading position is detected by counting pulses generated by the linear encoder, and when it is detected that the shuttle is moved, the linear motor is actuated such that the shuttle is moved back into the card loading position.
