  • Patent number: 11781524
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a wind turbine system reducing, preventing or mitigating vibrations due to wind induced vibrations. The wind turbine system includes a wind turbine tower 102, a sensor arrangement 304 for sensing vibrations of the wind turbine tower, a nacelle 104 mounted to the wind turbine tower via a yaw bearing 310 and a control system 306 for controlling yawing of the nacelle relative to the wind turbine tower. The system is adapted for sensing 402 a vibration of the wind turbine tower using the sensor arrangement, providing 404 an input for the control system in response to the vibration of the wind turbine tower as sensed by the sensor arrangement, and providing 406 an output by the control system based on the input, and yawing 408 the wind turbine nacelle based on the output from the control system, and hereby reducing wind induced vibrations of the tower and nacelle, particularly vortex induced vibrations and/or vibrations due to galloping.

  • Patent number: 11754050
Abstract: The present invention relates to a damper module adapted to be secured to a wind turbine tower section, the damper module comprising at least one liquid damper secured to a frame structure, wherein each liquid damper comprises a container comprising an interior volume containing an amount of liquid, wherein the amount of liquid in the interior volume of the container sets a natural frequency of the liquid damper, and wherein the frame structure comprises an interface arrangement configured for, in cooperation with a damper module suspension arrangement in a tower section, securing the damper module to said tower section, and a liquid damper fastening arrangement configured for securing said at least one liquid damper to the frame structure. The present invention further relates to a liquid damper and a tower section having at least one damper module secured thereto.

  • Patent number: 11415106
Abstract: A retrofitted wind turbine installation for replacing a prior wind turbine installation includes the foundation of the prior wind turbine installation and a replacement wind turbine supported by the foundation, wherein the tower of the retrofitted wind turbine installation is a cable-stayed tower to reduce the bending loads imposed on the foundation. A method of retrofitting an existing wind turbine installation with a replacement wind turbine includes disassembling at least a portion of the existing wind turbine, assembling a replacement tower to a remaining portion of the existing wind turbine installation, attaching a plurality of stay cables between the tower of the retrofitted wind turbine installation and stay cable foundations, and attaching the replacement energy generating unit to the replacement tower.

  • Patent number: 10865774
Abstract: A method for controlling a wind power plant including a plurality of wind turbines that provide output power through a transmission line arrangement, wherein each wind turbine in the wind power plant has a nominal power limit setting. The method comprises determining spare capacity on the transmission line arrangement; and configuring one or more of the wind turbines in dependence on the determined spare capacity, such that said wind turbines are operable to exceed their respective nominal power limit setting in order to exploit the spare capacity on the transmission line arrangement. Aspects of the invention also relate to a power plant controller configured to implement the method.
