  • Patent number: 10146513
Abstract: Provided are apparatuses and methods in a digital broadcast transmission system for providing user interfaces to a mobile device. The user interfaces (e.g., “widgets”) may provide information to a mobile device user by displaying the interfaces in a predetermined location on a mobile device display. For example, the user interfaces may be displayed on a dashboard on a mobile device and may contain updated information. As information pertaining to content of the user interfaces changes, the status of the information in the user interfaces may change accordingly. In one example, an event user interface may provide information pertaining to the event and may be updated based on changes to the event. For example, the number of participants may change. This information may be provided in the user interface. In addition, user interfaces may be selected, modified, arranged, organized or otherwise manipulated at a server and downloaded to the mobile device.

  • Patent number: 9569230
Abstract: A network entity is provided and includes a processor that is configured to send a first widget to a mobile terminal. The first widget is associated with a second widget, and the mobile terminal is configured to present content of the first widget in a display of the mobile terminal and in a manner including a content item related to the second widget. The processor is therefore also configured to receive, from the mobile terminal, a request for the second widget based on the presentation of content of the first widget including the content item related to the second widget. Further, the processor is configured to send the second widget to the mobile terminal in response to the request, where the mobile terminal is configured to receive the second widget and present content of the second widget in the display.

  • Publication number: 20140089100
Abstract: A method of consumer-controlled direct marketing and consumer-controlled targeting of advertising comprises the steps of user storing an interest or need into the system in context of consuming web content, possibly with related additional information implicitly or explicitly, the business owner searching for potentially commercially relevant interests, and after selecting and defining the target group via user interface keeping consumers anonymous, sending personal offers based on the explicit needs directly to the users. User receives the offer and whenever desired, opens the offer for reading. Opening the offer triggers charging the business owner based on for example click, view or the value of the offer. Charging can be also based on for example call to action or percentage of the purchase value.

  • Patent number: 8285846
Abstract: Systems, apparatuses and methods for determining success rates for the transfer and/or utilization of transmitted applications or other communicated services. An intermediary device specifies one or more device attributes of a target device, which are received at a server. The server determines an anticipated success rate for successfully transferring the requested content to the device and/or utilizing the content at the target device, and transfers an indication of the anticipated success rate to the intermediary device. The anticipated success rate indication is received at the intermediary device, which then determines whether the received anticipated success rate indication meets threshold criteria. If so, the intermediary device notifies the server to initiate the transfer of the content from the server to the target device if the threshold criteria is met.

  • Publication number: 20090064049
Abstract: A user selects a data file (e.g., an image file) from an interface (e.g., a thumbnail view). Upon selecting a file from the interface, the contents of that file are presented to the user in an appropriate manner (e.g., providing an enlarged image display). The selected file is also moved to a separate folder. As the contents of additional files are presented to the user, those files are also moved to the separate folder. A new folder is created when the user returns to the interface and selects another file from that interface, or alternatively, upon instruction from the user to create a new folder. The user may then rename or otherwise modify the folder(s).

  • Publication number: 20080010130
Abstract: Electronic advertisements and other types of electronic information are distributed based on user profiles and in particular, collections of widgets. User profiles may be generated based on a combination of user entered information and information inferred or derived from user behavior and interaction patterns. The use and collection of various widgets may also be recorded by a user profile to determine a user's preferences and interests. An advertisement may be distributed by segmenting a user population according to user profile information and one or more attributes of the advertisement. Users may further interact with the widgets in a variety of ways including requesting additional information about the advertised product or service and/or requesting communications with an advertiser without compromising their privacy. Organizations may further obtain widget space by using an auction system and bidding for available widget space through the auction system.

  • Publication number: 20070250643
Abstract: The user of a mobile device is able to mark selected portions of content viewed on the mobile device (e.g., URLs associated with web feeds) for later viewing. The selected portions may be transmitted to a server and used to create a user profile associated with the user. The user profile may be used to send targeted content (e.g., advertising) to the user either at the mobile terminal or at another computer associated with the user of the mobile terminal. The marked portions may be used to view fuller portions of the content (e.g., the contents of a web feed) at a later time.

  • Patent number: 7068685
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for finding frame alignment and accepting and monitoring TTI identifiers contained in frames in an SDH system. Advantageously the method according to the invention comprises steps in which frame alignment is first sought for by means of a frame alignment signal. When frame alignment has been found, it is monitored that it stays correct and at the same time at least one TTI identifier is read. According to the invention, at least one TTI identifier is saved from a frame after the finding of frame alignment. If a loss of frame alignment is detected, the TTI identifier saved is stored for a predetermined time. The invention further relates to an arrangement comprising means to implement the method described above in an SDH system.

  • Publication number: 20060097983
Abstract: An apparatus and method for tapping input on electronic devices are provided. An electronic device, such as a phone, a media playing device, or a personal digital assistant, detects a tap by a user on a surface of the device using one or more motion sensors. Based on the data from the motion sensors, a location upon the surface of the device is determined, and based on that location, an action is performed. Tap input may be interpreted based upon a mode of operation of the device, orientation of the device, timing of the taps, or based on user-defined criteria. An attachable tapping template is provided which can be attached to an electronic device and share information about the template with the device using a radio frequency or electrical identifier.
