  • Patent number: 5730146
Abstract: A method and system for acquisition, transmission, analysis, and analysis reporting of patient bioelectrical data, including electroencephalogram (EEG), computer-enhanced and expanded EEG (CEEG), dynamic brain mapping, evoked potentials (EP) and event related potential (ERP) data, with or without dynamic brain mapping, between a remote site where the physician and patient are located and a data collection and analysis center where the data can be analyzed by high-level computer analysis and/or expert technicians using an available communications channel. The EP, ERP and/or EEG data signals are gathered locally and transmitted using a local computer unit to control stimulus generation, data acquisition, and transmission functions. The high-level or computationally-intensive computer at the data collection and analysis center can also generate brain mapping analysis.

  • Patent number: 5357957
Abstract: An electrode assembly for an EEG headset has a cylinder and piston, at least one disk-shaped mounting element with an inner portion for mounting the cylinder therethrough and an outer portion overlapping onto the liner of the headset, an electrode body made of insulative material mounted to the piston and holding an electrode tip, and an electrode tip made of conductive material with a wire lead for transmitting electrical signals from the tip to an external signal processing unit separately from the rest of the electrode assembly. Preferably, the mounting element is a pair of rubber washers supporting the cylinder from each side of the liner. The electrode body has a threaded end for threading in the piston, and a central passage for supplying electrolyte gel to the electrode tip. The electrode tip has a disk shape with a relatively large surface area for maintaining good contact with the subject's scalp.

  • Patent number: 4800888
Abstract: An electrode assembly is mounted in a helmet like headset for use in making multiple electrode contact with the scalp. Each electrode assembly includes an electrode that floats in a cylinder mounted in a pressure responsive drive, which, when under pressure carries the electrode toward the scalp of a patient wearing the headset. Mounted in the cylinder above the electrode and biased away from the electrode is an LSI chip carrying an operation amplifier and a power supply for the amplifier. When the electrode makes contact with the scalp the cylinder continues to drive forward. Back pressure from contact with the scalp overcomes the bias and completes a circuit to turn on the amplifier. The amplifier is connected via wire or a wireless signal transmit system to a computer into which amplified signals are fed.

  • Patent number: 4683892
Abstract: Method and apparatus are provided for use in conducting an electroencephalographic (EEG) test where the apparatus includes a headset suitable for placement on the head of a subject to be tested. A plurality of electrodes are mounted on the headset at pre-determined positions about the headset. The electrodes are preferably mounted to the headset by the use of a resilient material, preferably a resilient wire or plastic mesh which is bonded to both the electrode assembly and to the headset. Each of the electrode assemblies include a separate air cylinder for displacing the electrode in the direction of the subject's head upon the application of additional air pressure into the cylinder. A bellows arrangement is provided within each air cylinder for effecting displacement of the electrode.Means are further provided for dispensing a predetermined amount of an electrolytic material from an external source of electrolyte, through the electrode, to the point of contact between the electrode and the subject's head.
