    Abstract: A method and apparatus provide equal energy codebooks for coupled antennas with transmission lines. A plurality of precoders can be received from a codebook in a transmitter having an antenna array. Each precoder of the plurality of precoders can be transformed to a transformed precoder such that the transmit power for each transformed precoder is equal to the transmit power for each of other transformed precoders of the plurality of precoders. The transmit power can be expressed as a quadratic form with respect to the corresponding precoder. The quadratic form can be based on a transmission line impedance of a transmission line between a signal source and the antenna array. A signal can be received from the signal source. A transformed precoder of the plurality of transformed precoders can be applied to the signal to generate a precoded signal for transmission over a physical channel. The precoded signal can be transmitted.

Here, each amplitude coefficient vector and phase coefficient vector corresponding to a tap in at least one identified beam. The processor calculates a subset of the taps for the at least one identified beam and controls the transceiver to transmit CSI feedback including the calculated taps to the base station, where each tap is an inverse Fourier transform of rows of time-domain coefficient vectors and where the CSI feedback includes an indication of one or more elements of the vectors of amplitude coefficient vectors and phase coefficient vectors corresponding to the at least one identified beam.

A set of reference signals transmitted from a base station are received, and a set of beams are identified based on the set of reference signals. The set of reference signals is transformed to obtain a set of vectors of amplitude and phase coefficients of a compressed codebook, each amplitude coefficient vector and phase coefficient vector corresponding to an identified beam in the set of beams. The amplitude coefficient vector for each identified beam in the set of beams is adjusted by a selected value, wherein the selected value is determined such that the amplitude coefficient vector corresponding to a particular beam is normalized to a known predetermined value. A predefined oversampling factor is set to a subset of the set of beams to a value greater than one, wherein the particular beam is excluded from the subset of beams.
