  • Patent number: 4022537
Abstract: A knee brace to provide lateral resistance at the bottom of glued laminated beams and solid heavy timbers. The brace consists of an elongated strap connected at its mid point to the bottom of the glulam or heavy timber. Legs angled outwardly are connected at their ends to transverse members. Special cut sections in the strap provide tabs running perpendicular to the bottom of the braced glulam or timber. The tabs are held to the side faces of the braced member by nails. The bent tabs and nails in the bottom of the glulam provide the resistance to overturn loads.

  • Patent number: 4007573
Abstract: A truss top-bearing clip forming a part of the end bearing joint assembly for trusses having a pair of parallel wood members and a metal end web such as a tubular flattened end web. The clip is fabricated from flat sheet metal using standard punch-press operations. The ends of the metal truss webs are connected to the clips so that the web load is transferred directly to the clip via metal-to-metal contact. The top wood chords are connected to the clips and bear on the flanges of the clips.

  • Patent number: 4005942
Abstract: A wood framing hanger including an angle element having a top flange adapted for connection to the top side of a wood structural member and a lower depending flange formed at a substantially right angle. The hanger also includes a stirrup element having a seat and right angularly related side flanges. The stirrup flanges are one half the width of the seat and welded at their upper edges to the depending flange of the angle element. The top flange angle element is formed with nailing tabs at one end and a welding tongue at the other end. The top flange configuration is devised as a nested progressive for high production automated tooling. Likewise the stirrup element is designed for high-production automated tooling and any size may be made from the same single die system using different width coil stock.

  • Patent number: 3985459
Abstract: A ridge-joint connector assembly for trusses having a top chord which consists of a pair of juxtaposed parallel wood lumber members and metal web members. The assembly connects the abutting ends of the pitched lumber members and the metal chord members. The assembly consists of two pairs of metal fastener plates, a pair of ridge end-butt inserts and an elongated metal load transfer member.

  • Patent number: 3946532
Abstract: A truss structure having upper and lower chords joined by metal web members in which at least one of the chords consists of parallel wood members and the joint means connecting the metal web member to the wood members includes; a pair of metal fastener plates having a drawn opening therethrough forming an annular flange fastened to the inside faces of the wood members and a metal load transfer members inserted through an opening in the metal web member, the opening in each of the plates and into counter sunk openings in the wood members. Modified forms of the invention include the addition of prong plates, and a metal sleeve between the pin and the opening in the plates.
