  • Publication number: 20160050583
Abstract: Methods for grouping MTC devices in MTC networks are proposed. One of the proposed methods includes grouping femto MTC devices into femto groups and grouping macro MTC devices into macro groups, where each of the assigned groups has its granted interval for delivering MTC messages. In the proposed method, it may detect network overload of each group or unsuccessful access request of each device, and statistically count consecutively accumulated number of occurrence of the CN overload of each group or accumulated number of occurrence of unsuccessful access request retries of each device. The group numbers, cycle time, and access probability of the macro groups or the femto groups may be adjusted according to the aforementioned accumulated numbers. In addition, the macro groups or the femto groups are merged or split according to determination based on the statistical counts.

Abstract: A prioritized random access method, a resource allocation method, and a collision resolution method are proposed for wireless communication devices with different priority levels pre-assigned according to their respective service requirements. In the prioritized random access method, different priorities are assigned to connection requirements of wireless communication devices according to their respective service characteristics. Collision resolution mechanisms of the prioritized random access method enable establishing connections of different service requirements such as time strict, delay tolerant, and normal user service. The resource allocation method allows different types of contention accesses have different collision opportunities and connection setup delays, and also enables dynamical adjustment in resource allocation according to practical application requirements, the number of MTC devices and system loading.

  • Patent number: 8934906
Abstract: A method, a mobile relay using the same and a DeNB using the same are proposed. The present disclosure reduces the time required to perform wireless service handover by detecting the movement status of the mobile relay relative to a candidate DeNB as to determine whether a mobile relay is approaching or leaving a candidate handover DeNB. By incorporating the movement status into a report sent to the serving DeNB, the serving DeNB would require less time to make handover decisions since the reporting interval could be reduced to one interval, and the time to trigger would not be required. The movement status could be determined based on the propagation time of signals, a list of neighbor cell information, or the Doppler effect.

Abstract: A method for switching communication connection modes, a communication system, a base station, a transmitter and a receiver are provided. The method includes the following steps. Firstly, when a base station or a core network entity determines that a communication mode between a transmitter and a receiver should be switched from a cellular communication mode to a device-to-device communication mode, the base station sends a control message to the transmitter. Next, the transmitter stops transmitting at least one first packet to the base station in response to the control message. Afterwards, the receiver receives at least one transmission-unfinished packet and a transmission-unfinished packet status related to the at least one transmission-unfinished packet forwarded by the base station.
