  • Patent number: 7316890
Abstract: Indolestyryl compounds and use thereof for a high density recording media and method for fabricating the same. The indolestyryl compounds exhibit strong absorbance in the visible light region (400˜700 nm) of the spectrum, resistance to heat and light, high light sensitivity, and excellent solubility, resulting from their special chemical configuration. Furthermore, the indolestyryl compounds can be used as recording layer materials in high density recording media for matching a reading laser wavelength and enhancing the reflective index and carrier-to-noise ratio (CNR) of the high density recording media. • Publication number: 20070242583
Abstract: A method for measuring a surface structure of a near-field object is provided. A light source produces at least a first light beam and a second light beam; guiding the first light beam and the second light beam to enter the SIL for interacting with the object surface. This method can be used in, for example, a near-field optical disc storage system, wherein reflection intensities of the first and second light beams are used to measure two distances between the SIL and the optical disc at two positions corresponding to the first and second light beams. A surface structure, such as a tilt angle or an average distance between the disc and the SIL or disc roughness, is obtained by analyzing the above-mentioned positions and distances. The first and second light beams are produced, for example, by a diffraction technology or by a single laser diode with multiple beams.

  • Publication number: 20070153347
Abstract: A system and a method for holographic storage mainly involve forming a holographic interference pattern in a holographic recording medium. The holographic storage system utilizes a light source to emit a coherent beam. The coherent beam is irradiated to a first reflector to form a divergent beam. The divergent beam is then irradiated to a second reflector to form collimating beams (a signal beam and a reference beam). The signal beam goes through a spatial light modulator (SLM) and is modulated by the SLM. After that, the reference beam and the modulated signal beam are irradiated to a convergent unit, and are directed to the holographic recording medium for forming the holographic interference pattern. The holographic storage system that the light source is split into a signal beam and a reference beam by a set of reflectors according to the reflection principle without involving refraction may employ wavelength multiplexing.

  • Publication number: 20070116919
Abstract: The present invention relates to an optical recording medium including a substrate and a recording layer having a bi-metal film layer structure formed on a surface of the substrate. The recording layer includes a first metal recording layer of a Ge metal thin film and a second metal recording layer of an Au metal thin film. The bi-metal film layer structure can be formed by sputtering, which is therefore compatible with a conventional disc process. In the optical recording medium, a write area of the recording layer is heated by laser irradiation to reach an eutectic point and melted to form alloy. A write recording point can be distinguished by telling a difference in reflectance between the alloy area and the non-reacted metal area, and thus may be used in both a low-speed recording and a high-speed recording, and can be used in FVD and blue ray DVD recorder.
