Abstract: An opening arrangement for laminated container packages or cartons of the single-use disposable type is disclosed. The opening arrangement includes an inner pouring spout, which is formed as a closed part continuous with the container package, and an outer, screw stopper-like sealing portion. The outer sealing portion consists of an outer, left-hand threaded part, an inner, right-hand threaded portion, and a pull-off ring disposed therebetween. Penetration devices are provided in the inner part of the outer sealing portion for cutting off a portion of the inner pouring spout when the container package is opened.

Abstract: A method for applying an end plate to a container body includes applying a heated end blank made of deformable material to one end of the container body and creating a pressure difference between the two sides of the end blank to seal the edges of the end blank to the edges of the container body. The apparatus for applying an end plate to a container body includes a jacket having a chamber into which the container body can be fitted. A vacuum source is provided at one end of the jacket and a lid or clamping device is located at the opposite end of the jacket. The chamber into which the container body is fitted is not as deep as the container body so that when the container body is fitted into the chamber, the upper edges of the container body extend above the surface of the jacket. In that, the end blank can be applied to the container body and thereafter, the clamping device is used to clamp the end blank between the upper edge of the jacket and the clamping device.

Abstract: Sensing arrangements on material rolls are used to give advance warning when the material web forming the roll approaches its end. Usually this involves the sensing of the reduction of the the roll diameter with the help of a sensing device resting against the roll periphery. In the case of roll suspensions where the center of the roll is not fixed, these sensing arrangements cannot be used. The present invention uses a sensing arrangement which comprises a field-generating element, e.g. a permanent magnet, present in the center of the roll, together with a movable sensing device resting against the periphery of the roll, e.g. a heavy current switch which is acted upon at a certain predetermined field strength, and in a suitable manner indicates that a roll replacement is imminent.
