  • Patent number: 6446396
Abstract: A wall system for partitioning interior space within a building includes an internal frame made up of vertical posts and horizontal rails extending between the posts. Panels providing a fascia defining a covering on the frame are coupled to the panel by plug-in connectors. The panels may include “smart” elements or fascias providing writing or tack board surfaces, or an accessory element to which shelves or other accessories can be coupled. Heavier capacity shelves can be coupled directly to the posts of the frame. Electrical and/or data connections can be provided via a horizonal rail incorporated in the skin. The rails can include a plug-in module and wire management channels extending outwardly from the module. The wall system may incorporate a pocket door built on the same principle as the overall wall structure. Also disclosed are a pivot door structure and a patch plate for fitting a standard lockset or latchset to a glass door.

  • Patent number: 6227521
Abstract: An apparatus incrementally reduces pressure in a first volume in response to an increase in pressure in a second volume. A valve body defines a bore that houses a piston and supply and return passages that communicate with first and second ends of the bore, respectively. The valve body also defines a release passage that connects the bore with the first volume and an exhaust passage that connects the bore with atmosphere. An inlet valve opens when pressure in the second volume increases relative to pressure in the supply passage. An outlet valve opens when pressure in the second volume decreases relative to pressure in the return passage. The piston is biased in a closed position against the first end and defines a passageway through which the first and the second ends communicate. When pressure increases in the second volume, the inlet valve opens causing the first end to pressurize and move the piston to an open position in which the release and exhaust passages communicate.

  • Patent number: 6168247
Abstract: A file drawer is disclosed where two opposed top edges of the file drawer include pivoting rails which are movable to one of the two positions. The rails in one position are spaced for supporting letter size file jackets and in the other position support metric A4 size file jackets. This arrangement allows the manufacture of common size file drawers which can easily be adjusted for either filing application.

  • Patent number: 5979502
Abstract: In a conventional spool valve, the nut holding the diaphragm to the spool valve stem is replaced by a retaining ring, thereby simplifying the machining operation and eliminating the problems caused by damaged threads. A good seal is nevertheless achieved by providing an insert molded diaphragm having a bead around its axial aperture, which is compressed against the radial flange of the valve stem, and such that the retaining ring will maintain the compressed condition of the bead against the radial flange to maintain a good seal.

  • Patent number: 5559281
Abstract: A test connector for connecting an air brake test device to access ports of an air brake control valve device where such access ports are normally closed by check valves. A plurality of actuator devices corresponding in number to the access ports are provided in the test connector to unseat the check valves and conduct test air to the test device via central passages in the actuators. The actuators are piston operated in response to a pilot pressure received from a source of compressed air remote from the connector.

  • Patent number: 5518304
Abstract: A pipe bracket portion of a freight brake control valve having an improved filter arrangement. The pipe bracket portion has a first side with a service portion and an emergency portion mounted thereto. The pipe bracket portion has a second side with a brake pipe, a brake cylinder, a emergency reservoir and an auxiliary reservoir thereto. The pipe bracket portion is provided with a cavity designed for containing a generally cylindrical filter therein. A retaining nut secures the filter in the cavity and provides a seal between the outer circumference of one end of the cylindrical filter and the pipe bracket portion. A first cavity portion and a second cavity portion are thus formed within the cavity in which the first cavity portion houses the cylindrical filter, and the second cavity portion has at least one radial port for delivering air.

  • Patent number: 5228648
Abstract: A brake cylinder pressure retainer valve device for a railway car having a "direct" exhaust position, a "slow direct" exhaust position, and a "high pressure" retention position. A cavity in the retainer valve body has a central pedestal on which a rotary type disc valve is mounted. The disc valve has different sized ports via which pressure is connected from an inlet port (in the retainer valve body) to an outlet port depending upon the position of a manually operated handle to which the disc valve is connected. One such port is associated with a spring loaded check valve to provide the "high pressure" retention of the brake cylinder exhaust pressure. A laterally flexible sidewall of the disc valve member is formed with 180.degree.
