  • Publication number: 20040068155
Abstract: In a method for obtaining anthracene and carbazole and their sequential products from the anthracene oil resulting during coal tar distillation or its purification products, anthracene oil or the purification product crude anthracene is converted into a melt without adding solvent, the melt is cooled under the crystallization point of carbazole and anthracene, the crystal product obtained is separated from the liquid phase, and the crystal product is distilled to obtain pure anthracene and pure carbazole.

  • Patent number: 6166126
Abstract: Binding-agent solutions for printing inks include of resin and solvent that contain from 10 to 70% by weight of one or more aromatic polymers with a softening point above 120.degree. C. and from 90 to 30% by weight of a solvent mixture, consisting of a mineral-oil fraction with a boiling range of from 200 to 550.degree. C. and of an alkylaromatic mixture of mono-, di-, tri and tetraisopropyl naphthalenes, whose aromatic carbon content lies in the range of from 20 to 60% of the total carbon.

  • Patent number: 6107527
Abstract: The process for the production of hydroxy aromatic substances by means of catalytic oxidation of isoalkyl aromatic substance with oxygen, and decomposition of the hydroperoxide thus formed, is based on the concept that isoalkylaromatic substances are emulsified with an aqueous catalyst solution and brought to a temperature ranging from 50.degree. C. up to the boiling temperature of the emulsion; thereupon the oxygen is allowed to act for 2 to 20 hours and the hydroperoxide formed decomposed, in the presence of an inorganic acid as catalyst, into an hydroxyaromatic substance and a ketone.

  • Patent number: 5990357
Abstract: In a process for the catalytic oxidation of isoalkylaromatic hydrocarbons into ketones, alcohols and peroxides the isoalkyl- aromatic hydrocarbons in fluid phase at a temperature of 60 to 120.degree. C. are oxidized by oxygen in the presence of a catalyst of metal salt of different valency and alkylammonium salt or alkylphosphonium salt. Further there is claimed a catalyst for the oxidation of isoalkylaromatic hydrocarbons, containing a metal salt selected from copper salts, cobalt salts and manganese salts or their mixtures and an alkylammonium salt or alkylphosphonium salt in a ratio of metal salt to alkylammonium salt or alkylphosphonium salt of 0.5 to 50:1.

  • Patent number: 4490552
Abstract: A novel process for the preparation of aryl esters of organic carboxylic acids in high isomer purity by decomposing a compound of the formula ##STR1## wherein Ar is an aryl radical, X is an acyloxy of an organic carboxylic acid and Y is selected from the group consisting of an acyloxy of an organic carboxylic acid and an anion of a strong organic and mineral acid in an aqueous media in the presence of a palladium salt or in the form of a two-phase reaction, wherein the aryl thallium salt is dissolved in water and the catalytic palladium salt is dissolved in a water-immiscible organic solvent and the reaction takes place with mixing.

  • Patent number: 4477380
Abstract: In the oxidation of reactive aromatics with molecular oxygen in carboxylic acid solution in the presence of a catalyst consisting of a cobalt compound and possibly with addition of a manganese and a bromine compound suitable as Co-catalyst, an inactivation of the catalyst system readily occurs. This is prevented in that after each reaction cycle the catalyst is reactivated by treatment with a strong oxidant and the water formed in the reaction is removed by distillation.

  • Patent number: 4385002
Abstract: A process for the preparation of monoaryl thallium III perchlorates substantially free of isomers comprising reacting at atmospheric pressure at 0.degree. to 80.degree. C. thallium III perchlorate, 1 to 6 moles of a carboxylic acid, 1 to 6 moles of an aromatic compound and 2 to 15 moles of aqueous perchloric acid containing 3 to 45% by weight of water, said molar ratio being based on thallium III perchlorate and recovering the precipitated monoaryl thallium III perchlorate which are useful intermediates for the preparation of esters of aryl carboxylic acids.
