  • Patent number: 6649498
Abstract: The present invention concerns the field of microstructures and in particular microstructures made via CMOS technology on semiconductor substrates intended to undergo micro-machining by wet chemical etching, in particular by a KOH etchant. According to the present invention, protection against the KOH reactive agent is provided to such a structure by the deposition of a metal film (40, 41, 43) including at least on external gold layer (43) on the surface of the structure. This metal film (40, 41, 43) advantageously allows the use of mechanical protective equipment to be omitted and thus allows the wafers to be processed in batches. The present invention also proves perfectly compatible with a standard gold bumping process.

  • Publication number: 20020017664
Abstract: The present invention concerns a structure (21) formed on a substrate (23) formed of a substrate material intended to be etched by a reactive agent, this structure including at least one first outer layer (29), or passivating layer, which has a first elastic property. This structure further includes at least one second outer layer (33) formed above the first layer, so that the second layer has a second elastic property which is different to the first elastic property. In the event that the second elastic property provides the second layer with greater elasticity in compression than the first layer, said structure has advantageously a yield higher than 99.8%.

  • Patent number: 6040579
Abstract: Thermoelectric sensor (12) formed by a membrane (14) including a plurality of thermoelectric elements (20) formed of a plurality of thermoelectric couples and forming a plurality of elementary cells. Each elementary cell is thermally insulated from adjacent elementary cells by metal wires (22, 23), preferably gold wires, arranged on the front face (25) of the membrane (14), more particularly, on an upper passivation layer (30). The metal wires (22 and 23) are thermally connected to a substrate (16) supporting said membrane. The two wires separating two adjacent thermoelectric elements (20) are separated from each other by an intermediate low thermal conduction region (28).
