  • Publication number: 20130220943
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of treating an untreated saline water (RW), a process water (PW) thereby produced, and a device for carrying out said method. The method includes the steps of: a) furnishing the untreated water (RW); b) producing a mixture (M) by mixing the untreated saline water (RW) with an aqueous solution (HL) containing hydroxide ions; c) sedimenting the solid (FS) forming from the mixture (M) with concurrent formation of an essentially clear supernatant (U); and d) withdrawing process water (PW) from the essentially clear supernatant (U).

  • Patent number: 7494573
Abstract: The invention relates to an evaporator tube for a sea water desalination system, whereby drinking water or water for domestic or industrial purposes, respectively, is extracted from the sea in particular in areas having scarce fresh-water resources. The evaporator tube of the invention is characterized by being formed of a steel that is sea water resistant and at the same time acid resistant, and by having a wall thickness between 0.1 mm and 0.5 mm. The evaporator tube of the invention may be furnished and utilized economically, and is characterized in particular by a high corrosion resistance at good heat transition owing to the thin wall, and by good resistance against low pH values. In addition, scaling on the evaporator tubes may reliably be prevented. It is therefore also suited for economical operation in intermittently operated sea water desalination systems such as, e.g., wind energy-powered sea water desalination systems.

  • Patent number: 6470595
Abstract: A process and a device for continuously drying protein-containing sludge, in particular sewage sludge, in a fluidised bed (20) inside a drying container (13). A drying gas flows through the fluidised bed (20) while partially de-watered sludge (6) in granulate form (21) is added to the fluidised bed (20) while dried sludge (10) is withdrawn therefrom. The granules (21) are formed without admixture of dried substances and are granulated preferably at the same time as they are pressed. Sewage sludge may thus be dried without admixture or recycling of dried substances, so that a highly efficient plant is obtained. In addition, a granulated dry material is produced which may be used in various ways.

  • Patent number: 5671607
Abstract: A compression refrigeration machine is provided having ammonia as a refriant and including a condenser, a throttle device, an evaporator device, and a motor-compressor unit. The motor compressor unit includes an electric motor that drives a compressor and may be arranged in a semi-hermetic or hermetic encapsulation. In an hermetic encapsulation, the electric motor is located outside a suction gas stream flowing into the compressor and outside a discharge gas stream exiting from the compressor so that the electric motor is only exposed to an essentially static ammonia atmosphere. The motor-compressor unit and the semi-hermetic encapsulation are composed of materials stable or resistant to ammonia.

  • Patent number: 4611751
Abstract: The invention comprises a method and an apparatus for the manufacture of cylindrical hollow bodies by the shape welding process. This apparatus comprises a connection between a rotatably mounted supporting body which can be driven and a base body onto which the weld material is deposited. This connection is effected by elastically deformable elements and is capable of changing in the radial direction. Metal profiles which can be deformed elastically are fastened, in a manner permitting detachment, to the periphery of the supporting body, spaced at regular intervals. The base body is composed of a metal sheet or strip which is wrapped around the profiles and attached to them in a manner permitting detachment. Preferably the profiles extend over the length of the supporting body. The deformable metal profiles may be designed as cylindrical tubes, without any discontinuities or as half-tubes, angle-profiles, Z-profiles, or corrugated-sheet profiles.

  • Patent number: 4584457
Abstract: A device for arc welding having one or more fusible electrodes (15) which are in each case supplied from an alternating-current source (14) having a falling characteristic. The feed rate of the electrode (15) is regulated for constant arc length as a function of the arc voltage. Via a further regulator (37), the deposition efficiency is regulated by supplying the regulator (37) with the feed rate as actual value and changing the welding-current intensity as a function of this value. The change in welding-current intensity leads to an increase or decrease in arc length which, in turn, is compensated via the first regulator by changing the feed rate.
