  • Publication number: 20240102610
Abstract: Monitoring facility and method for monitoring an opening, wherein to improve the monitoring facility through which objects are channeled via a transportation device, a light curtain includes a transmitter array with transmitters emitting light beams and a receiver array with receivers receiving light beams which recognize interruption of a light beam and provide a signal, where the light curtain is arranged such that the light beams extend orthogonally to a transportation plane of the transportation device, and includes a scanner which scans receiver signals of the light curtain in chronologically consecutive scanning steps and provides each scanned signal as a signal series, a controller unit with a safety program which transmits a shut-off signal to prevent a danger, and an object recognition system arranged opposite to the transportation direction in front of the light curtain which is configured to recognize objects and to derive parameters therefrom for their geometric shape.

  • Publication number: 20240004360
Abstract: An apparatus and method for controlling a process plant in which a number of control processes are performed on common hardware, wherein encoded process variables are encoded in each of the control processes based on signatures that are defined individually in each of the control processes.

  • Patent number: 11290881
Abstract: A method for functionally secure connection identification during data exchange between two communication subscribers in a communication system, wherein a first subscriber operates as a data provider with a first address identifier and a second subscriber operates as a data requester with a second address identifier, wherein in a request of safety-related data of the first subscriber in a request message, the second subscriber transmits an order number of the data request and its second address identifier and the first subscriber responds with a response message, the second subscriber subsequently checking to determine whether this message contains (i) a second address identifier of the requesting second subscriber, (ii) an order number of the request message of the second subscriber and (iii) the first address identifier of the requested first subscriber, in the event all checking steps are positive, the safety-related data being accepted and otherwise discarded.

  • Publication number: 20190149510
Abstract: A method and facility for safely issuing addresses to modules connected in a network by a data connection, wherein the address of a respective module comprises a module address and a subsidiary address that specifies the position at which the respective module is located in the network and/or the interface to which the respective module is connected, where as an alternative or additionally the subsidiary address can specify the slot of an interface to which the module is connected, in an addressing step the address is allocated to the respective module and a check is performed via to determine whether the respective address of the respective module is unique, and where if it is not unique, then a signal is provided and, based on the signal, at least for one module the subsidiary address, is changed such that is advantageously possible to issue addresses in a network simple and safely.

  • Patent number: 9141103
Abstract: A method for a safety-oriented industrial automation component, wherein the controller is connected to the automation component by a data link includes providing, by a user, an input to the controller at a first user interface. The controller transmits a result of the input to the automation component. The result of the input is used in the automation component to calculate a first test value. The input is converted into a status display in the controller and is output at a second user interface. Here, the user or another user acknowledges the status display by inputting a confirmation, after which a second test value is formed from the status display and the confirmation in the controller, and the second test value is transmitted to the automation component. Finally, the first and second test values are compared in the automation component and the result of the input is used if the comparison is positive.
