  • Patent number: 10043647
Abstract: The invention concerns the reduction of the risk of an incorrect assignment of samples to sample sites during the manual deposition of samples for ionization by laser desorption (for example MALDI or LDCI). The invention offers a method wherein a sample support with several sample sites is provided, at least one sample site is selected, and the selected sample site is highlighted, at least in contrast to neighboring not selected sample sites, in a way which the human eye can perceive.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 29, 2013
Date of Patent: August 7, 2018
    Inventors: Markus Kostrzewa, Ulrich Weller

  • Patent number: 8877459
Abstract: Identification of infectious pathogens, particularly viruses, bacteria and other microorganisms is effected with a method whereby pathogens of acute infections can be identified, without first culturing them in external nutrient media, by mass spectrometric measurement of their protein profiles obtained from pathogens directly precipitated from body fluid into pellets by centrifuging. With this method, pathogens which cause acute infections can be identified in less than one hour.

  • Patent number: 7527422
Abstract: A drive unit for a twin-screw machine, of which the screw shafts, which can be driven in rotation in the same direction, have an axial spacing a, has two output shafts. The output shafts are provided with a respective crown gear which does not collide with the adjacent output shaft. The drive motor provided is in the form of a torque motor having a stator housing, a rotor, which is rotatably arranged in the stator housing, and at both ends of the rotor, outside the stator housing, a drive pinion meshing with a crown gear.

  • Patent number: 6015226
Abstract: In a screw-type extrusion machine comprising a composite casing which comprises casing sections fitted together in a longitudinal direction, the casing sections being tightly tautened relative to each other by a plurality of tie rods which extend parallel to each other in the longitudinal direction of the casing on the outside thereof, it is provided with a view to avoiding any over-stressing of the tie rods in the hot condition and to avoiding any leakage between the casing sections in the case of low temperatures and non-uniform temperature distribution, that the tie rods are loaded in the longitudinal direction by a pre-stressed spring system.

  • Patent number: 4931229
Abstract: A method and apparatus for protecting a mixing apparatus for producing strand-shaped explosives and propellants in a twin-shaft screw extruder, the housing of which is formed of housing parts connected to a clamping device acting under hydraulic pressure. In order to compensate for excessive pressure and to prevent abrupt opening of the mixing chamber, the torque developed at the screw shafts is continuously monitered and fed to a control and storage device together with temperature and pressure values measured at the end of the screw shaft in the material being processed. If one of the measure values exceeds a permissable limit, a signal is produced to change the operating condition of the screw extruder, particularly to stop and withdraw the extruder from the housing, to halt the drive motor of the extruder shafts and to open the extruder housing by relieving the clamping device.
