  • Patent number: 8180531
Abstract: A safety device for motor vehicles includes an impact detection system and a triggering device for triggering a braking operation as a function of a signal of the impact detection system characterized in that the triggering device is designed for the purpose of triggering the braking operation when the impact detection system indicates the beginning of an impact.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 16, 2006
Date of Patent: May 15, 2012
    Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbH
Inventors: Bernhard Lucas, Dirk Meister, Ulrike Ahlrichs, Ulf Wilhelm
  • Patent number: 7696863
Abstract: A method and a device for warning the driver of a motor vehicle. An object detector is provided, which detects preceding vehicles and ascertains their distance and relative velocity with respect to the host vehicle and supplies these to an evaluation device. The evaluation device assumes that the preceding vehicle would perform a deceleration and ascertains as a further function of the variables measured by the object detector and the driver's reaction time and the host vehicle's maximum possible deceleration whether a collision with the preceding vehicle would be avoidable. If an unavoidability of a collision is recognized, then a driver warning device is activated.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: April 13, 2010
    Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbH
Inventors: Bernhard Lucas, Martin Heinebrodt, Dirk Meister, Ulrike Ahlrichs, Ulf Wilhelm, Paco Haffmans
  • Patent number: 7660668
Abstract: A device and a method for triggering at least one deceleration device and/or one output-determining actuator element of a vehicle propulsion system, in particular for automatic longitudinal vehicle regulation, a first surroundings sensing device being provided, which delivers longitudinal value-optimized measured values, a second surroundings sensing device being provided, which delivers object lateral dimension-optimized measuring values, and an analyzer device being provided, which receives the output signals of the first and second surroundings sensing devices and the measured values of the first and second surroundings sensing devices being used for object identification. The device and the method are furthermore suitable for initiating or performing vehicle deceleration for collision avoidance or for alleviating the severity of a collision.

  • Patent number: 7363155
Abstract: A method and a device for warning the driver of a motor vehicle about a traffic situation involving an increased collision risk are provided. For this purpose, signals of at least one object detector representing motion quantities of detected objects and signals of at least one motion sensor system of the host vehicle are suppliable to an analyzer device. The computing device precalculates all possible motion trajectories for all detected objects and for the host vehicle, taking into account maximum acceleration or deceleration values and maximum change in acceleration or deceleration values over time and, when an imminent collision is recognized, issues a warning to the driver that higher acceleration or deceleration values and/or change in acceleration or deceleration values are needed to avoid a collision.
