Patent number: 7287910Abstract: A rolling bearing is constructed so that, even though adapted for seals, strength of the bearing rings and reduction of the front width will not occur. Also dimensions equivalent to a non-sealed type bearing can be achieved. Rolling elements are disposed between an inner ring and an outer ring with seals provided. One seal is fitted in a pressed state on a peripheral surface portion of a cylindrical surface forming a counterbore of the outer ring. By pressing, the seal is mounted without forming a slot. The other seal is fitted in a slot. The inner ring and the outer ring, or rolling elements of a bearing comprising the outer ring, inner ring, rolling elements and a retainer are subjected to carbonitriding and a grease using a urea compound as a thickening agent is sealed in the bearing.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 2002Date of Patent: October 30, 2007Assignee: NTN CorporationInventors: Umemitsu Kobayashi, Keiichi Ueda

Patent number: 7059776Abstract: An angular ball bearing is provided which can suppress runout of a retainer during high-speed rotation. A retainer of a synthetic resin is mounted between an outer ring and an inner ring, and balls are housed in pockets formed in the retainer. The pockets are cylindrical. Conical guide surfaces are formed on the cylindrical inner surface of each pocket at its inner-diameter end in the circumferential direction of the retainer. The radius of curvature of the conical guide surfaces at the large diameter ends thereof is greater than the radius of curvature of the cylindrical inner surfaces, thereby preventing the contact points between the balls and the conical guide surfaces from becoming markedly displaced in the diametric direction during high-speed rotation, and thus suppressing runout of the retainer.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 2004Date of Patent: June 13, 2006Assignee: NTN CorporationInventors: Umemitsu Kobayashi, Kaoru Ueno

Publication number: 20040208408Abstract: A rolling bearing is proposed in which even though a sealed type, no lowering of strength of the bearing rings or lowering of the front width will not occur for the convenience of mounting of a seal, and design of dimensions equivalent to a non-sealed type bearing and practicability can be achieved, and has fretting resistance. Rolling elements 3 are disposed between an inner ring 1 and an outer ring 2 with seals 9 and 10 provided. The seal 9 arranged on a counterbore 8 of the outer ring 2 is fitted in a pressed state on a peripheral surface portion of a cylindrical surface 11 forming the counterbore 8. By pressing, the seal 9 is mounted without forming a slot. The other seal 10 is fitted in a slot 12. The inner ring and the outer ring, or rolling elements of a bearing comprising the outer ring, inner ring, rolling elements and a retainer are subjected to carbonitriding and a grease using a urea compound as a thickening agent is sealed in the bearing.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 2, 2004Publication date: October 21, 2004Inventors: Umemitsu Kobayashi, Keiichi Ueda

Patent number: 6540405Abstract: The arrangement is such that the ratio of the diameter of balls 3 in the ultrathin-walled ball bearing to the pitch circle diameter PCD is not more than 0.03, and that the balls 3 are arranged in a single row and in two-point contact with the raceway surfaces 1a and 2a of the outer and inner members 1 and 2. The inner member 2 is composed of first and second raceway rim members 21 and 22 opposed to each other with an axial clearance S defined therebetween, and the internal clearances of the bearing are made negative by adjusting the width of the axial clearance S.Type: GrantFiled: September 5, 2001Date of Patent: April 1, 2003Assignee: NTN CorporationInventor: Umemitsu Kobayashi

Patent number: 6464397Abstract: An ultrathin walled rolling bearing in which the noise level is reduced and thus the sound characteristics are improved is provided. The rolling bearing is composed of an outer member having in its inner periphery a raceway surface, an inner member having in its outer periphery a raceway surface, a plurality of rolling elements interposed between the raceway surfaces of the outer and inner members, and a cage for circumferentially equi-spacing the rolling elements. In this bearing, the ratio of the diameter DB of the rolling element to the pitch circle diameter PCD of the bearing is equal to or less than 0.03. In addition, the ratio L/M falls within a range of 0.8 to 0.95 in which L is the radial thickness of the cage and M is the radius difference between the inner peripheral surface of the outer member and the outer peripheral surface of the inner member.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 2001Date of Patent: October 15, 2002Assignee: NTN CorporationInventor: Umemitsu Kobayashi

Patent number: 6367980Abstract: The bearing according to the invention is an ultra thin type rolling bearing in which the ratio of a ball diameter/a pitch circle diameter is 0.03 or less, and includes an outer member, an inner member, and balls inserted between these members. A double row raceway surface is provided at the inner circumferential surface of the outer member. The inner member includes an annular member and an engaging member engaged to the outer circumference of the annular member and having an axial clearance to the annular member, and raceway surfaces are provided at the outer circumferential surfaces of the annular member and engaging member. Preloading is performed by pressurizing the engaging member and reducing the axial clearance. Thus, the number of parts is reduced and the manufacturing cost is reduced accordingly.Type: GrantFiled: May 19, 2000Date of Patent: April 9, 2002Assignee: NTN CorporationInventor: Umemitsu Kobayashi
