  • Publication number: 20050226665
Abstract: A wide format printing system, apparatus and method are provided to enable standard printing units to print images in a selected wide format. In some embodiments the printing system includes a printing controller, image recognition unit, and a wide format printing apparatus including a plurality of printing sub-units being positioned to precisely cover the width of a substrate of selected size.

  • Publication number: 20050207808
Abstract: An electrophotographic printing apparatus and method are provided to separate particles of at least one toner color from a mixture of colored toner particles. The toner separating apparatus may include a charging source, developer unit, and illumination unit that may illuminate a drum surface using one of more light wavelengths, after the developer has covered the drum surface with multi-color toner mixture. The printing apparatus may enable separation of a mixture of colored toner particles into the component colors, thereby enabling re-using of erased toner particles collected from previously erased colored images.

  • Publication number: 20050185209
Abstract: A printing apparatus and display system including a detachable printing apparatus that enables printing and/or erasing of display information directly to and/or from display systems. The printing apparatus may print and delete color images to/from a substrate using a printing mechanism and a plurality of color toners, using a detachable mobile printing apparatus. The printing apparatus may enable recycling of erased toner from previously erased images.

  • Publication number: 20040165051
Abstract: A system, apparatus, and method for toner recycling in a printed image display system. The display system, in conjunction with the printing apparatus, according to some embodiments of the present invention, may enable printing a color image using a plurality of toner colors, erasing the image from the substrate, collecting the erased mixture of toner colors, separating the toner colors, and recycling the toner colors for use in further printing.

  • Patent number: 6217148
Abstract: A method of operating for an ink jet printer having a printer head bearing a plurality of equi-distantly spaced ink jets for printing parallel lines of dots on a substrate in n passes of the print head over the substrate. Between each pass of the printer head over the substrate, the printer head is displaced in a direction perpendicular to the direction of the lines by a distance y that satisfies: (i) y=m1×a where m1 is a natural number equal to 2 or more and a is the separation gap between adjacent lines; (ii) y is not a multiple of the inter ink jet separation distance of the printer head; and (iii) m1 and n do not have a common factor except the factor with the value of 1. These conditions on y ensure that two adjacent lines are printed by different ink jets and that each line is printed by only one ink jet.

  • Patent number: 5511477
Abstract: A method and apparatus for direct production of photopolymeric printing plates. The method comprises forming a positive and/or negative image on a substrate by ink-jet printing with a photopolymeric ink composition, optionally preheated. The apparatus for carrying out the method of the invention comprises a rotatable drum adapted for retaining on its inner or outer surface the substrate to be printed; a carriage, displaceable axially in respect of the drum; a container for a photopolymeric ink composition; at least one nozzle communicating with the carriage for ejecting the photopolymeric ink composition; and a UV source located so as to expose the printed surface of the substrate to UV radiation.
