  • Patent number: 6598010
Abstract: The present invention is a method for achieving accurate measurement of true weight of a load by use of a weight measuring device which has the ability to be tilted by the operator about an axis, such as, but not limited to, a scale which is built into a forklift vehicle. The accurate measurement of true weight is achieved by tilting the load through a range of angles of inclination that includes horizontal, about an axis running transverse to the forklift truck. Load force data from the weight measuring device is sent to a processor as the load is tilted. The processor filters out “noise” and uses the highest load force reading to calculate the true weight of the load. The present invention is further able to use the information obtained from the weight measuring device to determine the angle of inclination of the load at any given time.

  • Patent number: 6137065
Abstract: A weighing device (2) for accurately weighing an object, which includes a support base (4), a weighing platform (8) for supporting the object and a load cell (6) mounted on the base (4) for measuring the weight of the object. The load cell (6) includes an anchoring section (18) for anchoring the load cell (6) to the support base (4). The device further includes an inclinometer (28) horizontally positioned in correspondence with the anchoring section (18) of the load cell (6) for measuring the levelness of the load cell (6). A display means (32) is connected to the inclinometer (28) for conveying information necessary to obtain an accurate weight measurement.

  • Patent number: 5922998
Abstract: A scale on a fork-lift comprising of at least one cantilevered beam tine (18) supported by a rigid member (20) near one end of the cantilevered beam. A weighing platform (16) is positioned above the beam (18) for supporting the load. The platform (16) is supported by at least two load cells (34a,34b) located between the beam (18) and the platform (16). At least one of the supporting load cells (34a) is located on the beam either at the point of attachment of the rigid member (20), or between the point of attachment and the end (24) of the cantilevered beam opposite the free end (22) of the beam, in order to reduce the bending of the cnatileverrd beam tine and thereby increase the maximum load carrying capacity of the fork-lift.

  • Patent number: 5739478
Abstract: A scale for weighing a load, which is made up of a base (12), a weighing platform (34) for supporting the load and a load cell (36, 98) located below the weighing platform so as to alternate between an operational position, in which the weighing platform is supported by the load cell for measuring the weight of the load, and a neutral position, in which the weighing platform is supported by the base member for carrying the load. The scale further includes a contact member (40, 48, 116) located below the weighing platform (34) so as to reversibly come into contact with the load cell so that the load cell alternates between the operational position and the neutral position due to a relative movement between the load cell and the contact member. The scale further includes a mechanism (26, 52, 96, 110) for generating the relative movement.
