  • Patent number: 7226071
Abstract: The gliding properties of running surfaces for winter sports apparatus, e.g. skis and snowboards are improved by a mineral addition chosen from the sodalite group and tsaregorodtsevite-wadalite series or a mixture thereof. An ultramarine is especially preferred as the mineral additive. Gliding properties are similar to or improved in comparison to those obtainable with the addition of soot, carbon black or graphite. The mineral addition according to the invention can however be combined with the addition of soot, carbon black or graphite. The invention also opens up new possibilities in the coloration of running surfaces.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 9, 2004
Date of Patent: June 5, 2007
    Assignee: IMS Kunststoff AG
Inventors: Pierre Garcin, Urs Geissbühler, Aude Cebocli

  • Publication number: 20060008637
Abstract: The invention relates to a running surface for winter sports gear, containing an additive of at least one or more fullerenes. By adding a comparatively small amount of fullerene, improved sliding properties are effected, so that the addition of carbon black and/or graphite can be omitted, enabling one to produce colorations of the running surface.

  • Patent number: 6333376
Abstract: The plastic ski coating contains a filling material addition improving the sliding properties, which contains at least one of the following materials: boron, at least one boron compound, at least one nitride. With this the filling material addition quantity may be smaller than with a filling material addition of soot or graphite, and a black coloration of the ski coating may be avoided.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 15, 2000
Date of Patent: December 25, 2001
    Assignee: IMS Kunststoff AG
    Inventor: Urs Geissbuhler
  • Patent number: 6063739
Abstract: The plastic ski coating contains a filling material mixture of fluorographite and soot. By way of this combination the sliding characteristics of the coating on snow is surprisingly improved.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 17, 1999

    Assignee: INS Kunststoff AG
    Inventor: Urs Geissbuhler
  • Patent number: 5272199
Abstract: A ski coating made from sintered PE contains fillers with raised thermal conductivity for improvement of the running characteristics. Additionally, additives are employed which possess melting temperatures in the region between -20.degree. C. and +10.degree. C.
