Abstract: An articulator in which all natural chewing movements (articulation) and the biting movement (occlusion) shall be simulated. To this end a fixture is positively guided by means of a spring loaded elongated shaft relative to a base in three degrees of freedom. The positive movement proceeds via the longitudinal shaft as well as slanted surfaces extending obliquely relative to the longitudinal shaft and additionally a cam member including a cam follower is provided which determine the path of movement in the three axes of the articulation. In order to allow the occlusion the fixture can be pivoted relative to the base around a lateral shaft.
