  • Patent number: 6060759
Abstract: The present invention relates, in general, to a method and apparatus for creating improved inductors which can be adapted for use with electronic oscillators. The method includes at least the following: forming a first coil; forming a second coil, such that the second coil is proximate to the first coil and such that a magnetic flux from the formed outer coil will link with a magnetic flux of the formed second coil; and connecting the first coil to the second coil in electrical parallel. The apparatus includes at least the following: a substrate; and a composite inductor having at least a first coil with an associated inductance and resistance and a second coil with an associated inductance and resistance, with the first coil and the second coil connected in electrical parallel but formed in the substrate such that said composite inductor has resistance substantially less than the combined resistances associated with the first coil and the second coil.

  • Patent number: 6008705
Abstract: A data transmission system generally comprising a bus with transmission lines, and a signal driver that applies a first signal to a first one of the transmission lines, and applies one or more signals to at least one other of the transmission lines which is adjacent the first transmission line, wherein the second signal has an amplitude proportional to an amplitude of the first signal such that crosstalk between the first and second transmission lines is substantially reduced. The signal driver may take the form of a current mode driver, which provides the compensating (second) signal with a current which is k/c times smaller than the current of the first signal, wherein k is the mutual capacitance between the first and second transmission lines, and c is the capacitance between either of the first or second transmission lines and a ground plane. If the first and second transmission lines are orthogonal, the current mode driver preferably includes differential input lines.

  • Patent number: 5912596
Abstract: A method and system in an integrated circuit for frequency tuning oscillator circuits. An oscillator circuit within an integrated circuit is formed on a substrate such that the oscillator circuit is coupled to an inductor component. The inductor component includes a first inductor positioned parallel to a second inductor such that a total effective inductance is associated with the first and second inductors. The first inductor is formed from a first spiral coil layer which is coupled to a second spiral coil layer on the substrate. The second inductor is formed of a single spiral coil layer on the substrate, wherein the single spiral coil layer provides an inductive feedback signal to the oscillator circuit when electrical current flows through the single spiral coil layer in response to current flowing through the first spiral coil layer and the second spiral coil layer.
